As a person goes through the education system and has to think about their future, the main focus is on attaining a job. One has to look at their options and decide on one that is best for them. My future career as a sports agent will sustain me and provide the best quality of life when considering the job description, the process it requires in order to get into the career-field, and the advantages the career has to offer. To become a sports agent, there are no existing educational requirements. In high school, taking courses in speech, business, and english are beneficial. At the collegiate level, obtaining at least a bachelor’s degree in something like business administration, sports management, or marketing help to enter the field. Taking economics courses also have been shown to help aid in the understanding of negotiations and contracts. Some sports agents even get a license or a professional registration which serve to show their commitment towards their clients(Careers). There are also requirements that are unofficial that serve a bigger purpose than most degrees. Exposure to prospects and contacts are the key to success in this field. To become a successful agent, they have to find clients and represent them well as they move up to the professional level. The difficult barrier that is imposed on some aspiring agents are the lack of connections and contacts they have. Internships are the solution to this problem. Internships help give exposure to agents and give them resources to access contacts such as coaches, physical trainers, or anyone who could introduce an agent to athletes.
