Speech on Death

Speech on Death Good morning everyone. I am so pleased to be invited here to give you a talk, and I'm going to talk with you about a very important aspect in life, which all of us have to face one day, and it's death. In case you don't know, I had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a brutal, unforgiving illness of the neurological system, which is taking away my last precious days. There is not much time left for me. It's obvious that I'm going to die quite soon. It's been common that we are afraid of death. We don't want to believe it that we try to ignore it. But the fact is, we have to die. And it makes no difference even if we pretend that it's not going to happen. If we do believe in death, we would do things differently. This is a better approach - to know that you are going to die, and to be prepared for it anytime. We never know when the day will come. Everyday is a precious day, so treasure it. " Today is a gift, tomorrow is a mystery", so be glad to find yourself still alive every morning when you wake up. No one can guarantee what will happen after you fall asleep every night. That's what I do. Everyday, I ask myself, " Is today the day? Am I ready yet?" I am prepared and that's why I'm not in any sense afraid of dying. Knowing that we are going to die one day, we should try to live meaningfully. If we are notified somehow that today is going to be our last day, certainly there will be a lot of things that we want to do but haven't . So do what you want to do and be the person you want to be. Never have it delayed, or you might not have the chance to do it. Remember, learn how to die, and you learn how to live. Focus on the essentials and strip away the useless things. So, remember to spend your days more meaningfully.
