Soccer differs in Spain and in America when it comes to attendances and passion for the sport, play style, and the way their players are shaped into professions. The United States is said to play a hybrid form of soccer compared to hispanic countries (Parrish). American soccer athletes are typically taught to emphasize conditioning and possession. Secondly, Americans and Hispanics’ passion for the sport are extremely different from one another. The people in Hispanic countries live for soccer, as they are devoted, passionate, and loyal to the teams. Contrarily in America, football, basketball, and baseball trump soccer making it only the fourth most attended and watched event. No matter how the sport is played or how many people attend the events, soccer is well liked in both the United States and Hispanic

In America, games are usually played within its country’s borders. If a game is played outside of the country they will call it a “world championship” or something of the like (American Behavior). The main sport for Spanish speaking countries is futból, which is also known as soccer. In Hispanic culture this sport is huge, everyone learns to play when a kid and continues to either pay or watch as an adult (Spanish Culture). Bullfighting and bicycling are also common in this culture. Hispanic cultures spreads through many different countries around Spain, therefore they would go outside country borders to play other teams for games (Understanding the Hispanic

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world and officiating allows me to share a connection with billions of people that hold this game in such high esteem. Additionally, fans identify soccer as the ‘beautiful game’ for the artistic manner in which it is played. Hopefully, my officiating contributes to this beauty allowing opportunities for the game to flow gracefully. Moreover, my affiliation with soccer allows me to create a lifetime of innumerable friendships and lasting professional relationships. Working with so many different referee crews has taught me the importance of camaraderie and teamwork. Moreover, soccer affords opportunities to connect in ways I could not imagine previously. Personally, Barcelona is close to my heart. Their history teaches a lot of great life skills. The many of the talented players hint that hard work pays off, too. Looking at the history of the team, I learned that life is full of challenges. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. A good player never gives up and works as a team. Another thing that makes Barça special to me is that the players play for the passion of fútbol. Not for the attention or the honors. That really stands out to me. To learn more about FC Barcelona you can visit the official website (fcbarcelona.com), or refer to Wikipedia. And if you ever visit Camp Nou, remember to
