The suburb of Pyrmont on the shores of Sydney Harbour has been transformed by the processes of urban renewal into a thriving cosmopolitan residential area, an efficient and sophisticated business centre, and a popular recreational and tourist hub. Through my own observation of the Pyrmont area, I have seen how the painstaking urban planning efforts for the area have come to fruition, and a focal point of the Harbour foreshore created as a result of this.

Brimbank Park (coordinates 37.7340° S, 144.8370° E) is located in the Maribyrnong Valley (hollowed by the Maribyrnong River), near the Melbourne suburb Keilor. It is intersected by the Maribynong River and the M80 highway, which reveals the adaptive nature of the natural environment in a growing urban area. (Parks Victoria, 2013)

The location of the study area is Silver Beach in Kurnell Peninsula, near Cronulla. It is located in the Sutherland Shire, south of Sydney Central Business District (CBD) and just directly south of Kingsford Smith International Airport. This is evident in Walsh Bay as it had previously changed the wharfs that were as dock and made it into apartment with the intention that high income earners would accommodate the area. This clearly displays how there were changes made to try and improve the area. Consolidation arises many issues around the Sydney Harbour foreshore as there would be an increase in noise pollution thus disturbing nearby residence and the public. Another issue which will arise is an increase in need for transport due to higher population density. The stakeholder would would be impacted by consolidation are the public, residence, business workers and also tourist. Lend lease is a project for Barangaroo and is a project in which the government wishes to change the industrial use into a residential, commercial and recreational area by creating a Barangaroo Reserve Park and build a tall building. Riverbank, a large city, has a district with a huge problem. Grant’s Valley, although booming with business, is a quaint and historic part of Riverbank that the residents want to keep that way. The business aspect of Grant’s Valley has an ever growing need for more space for tourists to park and there is just too much traffic for the area to withstand. Riverbank’s historically quaint Grant’s Valley would benefit from the destruction of the unused junior-high on 35th and Princeton and the new construction of a one hundred space parking lot and a new park. This would attract more people and lessen the unattractive curb appeal of the parking lot in the residential area of Grant’s Valley that the residents want
Towra Point Nature Reserve is a place of many different land habitats. It is located in Southern Sydney, New South Wales, in eastern Australia. It produces the largest estuarine wetland complex in NSW and is a protected nature reserve. It Represents around half of the remaining mangrove area near Sydney, and most of the salt marshes area remaining in the region as well. They are also most likely one of the most major contributors to the food web within Botany Bay and provide habitat for many important fish and different invertebrate species of the bay.
The Dandenong ranges is located in the east of Melbourne. Sherbrooke forest (located in the Dandenong Ranges) is a tall, woodland forest (wet sclerophyll forest) with a height of 60-80m and a crown cover of 30%. Sites in the National park are the ‘Hardy Gully Nature trail’ (a cool rainforest with massive eucalypt trees), ‘Margret Lester walk’ (a walk suitable for wheelchair users), ‘Coles Ridge Track’ (a wet forest) and a Picnic Ground (where you can experience native bird feeding). Some biotic features include many species of bird and a wide range of flora and fauna, such as mountain ash and tree ferns, which dominate the forest. These are reasons why families would have an interest in the park. Also Indigenous Australians would have interests in the park as they were original owners of the land and a lot of the history of the Dandenongs was created because of them. Parks Victoria have a role in managing the park and providing places where the flora and fauna are protected.

Would you feel disappointed if you discovered that there was so much history and significance in that very spot you're standing in, but all you knew about were the animals and popular photo spots? I bet you would too. For this reason, the Tourism Board of Australia should consider replacing their current images with those that showcase a diverse culture and heritage.
