“Sound Engineer Technician?” “Bro, what interests do you really find in that?” “Like, what do they do?” A sound engineering technician sets up, operates and maintains special equipment used in stage, television or motion picture productions according to instructions. In other words I can be one of those guys who gets to go out and find substitution sounds for the common things people may hear everyday or stuff people never had the chance to hear before. A couple classic examples would be a sheet of hard plastic making the sound of thunder when you shake or wriggle it, or the sound of nails on a tin roof creating the sound of a hail storm. But that’s not all there is to it. Sound engineers technicians complete tasks such as reporting on equipment problems and making sure repairs are made. They keep logs of recordings, synchronize music with and other audio effects with visual display, set up and alter recording equipment for live performances and etcetera. If you actually understood what a sound engineer’s job is to do, you just may be able to draw conclusions as to why I am interested in this career. I chose this as my future job career because it includes a lot of physical activities, problem solving skills and hands on work. And I love to solve me a puzzle. If and when I have this job, it will keep me and my brain cells won’t just rot away because in this job, I use them to solve many problems and loose ends when it comes to sound in a project. If I were to start working towards my career now, I should build a small room. With a small room there may be a few things I should keep note of that I have came across researching in an internet article. Today’s competition for jobs as a sound engineer technician is “fierce”. If I am to start somewhere right now in high school, I should attend classes such as T.V and broadcasting and or sound and production. When I finally leave high school, I will then be able to pick up from where I left off at collages such as The International Academt of Design and Technology, Miami International University of Art and Design or Miami Dade Collage.
