Songwriting Music has a massive impact on my life. It shows me what the artist has experienced. The words stick to my heart, inspiring me to do my very best. It can be frightening to tell someone exactly how you feel, in public or private. Songwriting is the most extraordinary way to communicate. Songwriting doesn’t come to you by instinct. It’s developed through emotion and experience. It takes a beat, a tone, and a rhythm. Music is an art, it’s meant to be done in a variety of styles. Writing a over-the-top song isn’t as easy as writing a sentence. There needs to be a lot more than just one sentence. You have to make the listener feel what you have felt, regret or passion. Show them your perspective, your side of this story. “Behind every
I can’t touch music, but it touches me. I cannot exist without it. Music surrounds me and envelops me. The music isn’t just background noise, it has power. The lyrics beat and intensity can fill me with angst, sadden me, pump me up and help me relax. Music is life and it has power. It helps me delve deep into my personality and individuality and has helped me discover a more introspective side of myself. However, it wasn’t always like this.
I think music has a way of explaining something or telling a story. Music can bring up happy times, it can also bring up sad times as well. Certain songs can remind someone of troubling issues from a past, can be the reminder of someone you have lost, it can also be a reminder of many happy times; such as weddings, high school dances, or even just hanging out with friends in the back
Music is a large consumption of my daily life and the artists I listen to have shaped me in some way. Listening to music is one of my most time
Music and songwriting date back centuries. Cultures, families, and religions have all used it as a way of expression and unity since the very beginning of time. Song writing in particular has become one of the most popular ways for society to express their thoughts and views of the caucus around us all. Music is a common language that we’ve all learned to speak and appreciate, and it is one way for us to stay connected as people.
Thomas C. Boyle and “Stones in My Passway, Hellhound on My Trail” August James Mrs. Ballard/Mr. Cooper American Literature 4 th/5 th Hour March 19, 2024 From drugs and music to becoming one of the most successful writers in America, Thomas Coraghessan Boyle is a great representation of why one should not judge a book by its cover. A good representation of Boyle’s writing and why it is deemed successful is “Stones in My Passway, Hellhound on My Trail,” a story using imagery and characterization to tell a story about a music-obsessed man living in the 1930s. Robert, the main character, plays blues in a bar filled with women and men while they all dance to his beautiful guitar skills and voice. The story cuts back to a memory of Robert watching a poisoned dog rip itself to shreds, a
As music varies around the world so does a cultures use of the songs and lyrics created. Songwriters may quickly scribble words down on a piece of paper or have a melody running in their head, with the anticipation that those sounds and words will turn into lyrics for a song. A song or melody may spark both positive and negative feelings in each person’s life, especially by the author. Music is used for countless activities (ceremonies, celebrations), therefore the ideas discussed in this paper focus on whether the song writing process acts as a therapy outlet. Accordingly, the goal is to examine one musician’s ideas about song writing and review literature on how song writing is currently used in music therapy.
We all have our favorite genera of music, one that we believe has shaped us. For me, my musical experience began while still in the womb. While I was still a fetus, my mother would play classical music for me every day. I believe that this experience has shaped the type of music that I listen to today. When I was a child, I remember having music playing but simply as background noise. As I grew up, music became more important to me. When I entered fourth grade, music becomes something more than background noise to me. To further indulge in my love for music, in fifth grade, I joined the chorus and band. I thought that since I enjoyed listening to music, I would also enjoy making music. Being a part of the chorus was short lived for me. I sang with them for about three months and then decided it was not for me. However, the same was not true
Music is something that I believe we could not live without. There is a quote by a philosopher named Friedrich Nietzschethat says “without music, life would be a mistake”. I interpret this to mean that humans would not be creative if it were not for music. There is a reason that music can take us where word cannot. When you hear so many different sounds coming together to make a perfect harmony it is obvious that no words can make you feel the same way as the music. The best thing about music is that there are literally too many genres to choose from. There are different genres of music for any mood you are in. The origins behind these different genres is an interesting and rich history that is begging to be studied and written about. Let me explain....
Even before words were spoken there was music. There are so many aspects to music and the main one is to make a person feel good and happy it also tells the story and allows a person to relate to the artist. A good music source can allow you to escape from certain tragedies or relationship issues such as a breakup
There is a famous phrase by Victor Hugo that says, “Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent.” There are many genres of music and everyone has their own preferences in what they listen to and why. Sometimes the music that one listens to is dependent on what one is feeling like at that current moment because we tend to agree with the quote and believe that music has the ability to express emotions. The job of an artist is to create music that leaves an impact on the listener, and they work to express emotions in the words and the notes used because it is through them that listeners identify themselves. Just as music has the ability to express ones emotions and portray that which we are feeling but do not say, it also has the power to influence other aspects of life apart from emotions. Music has long been used as a method in which students learn in school and studies have shown that listening to music has the ability to help influence academic levels and progress for children who experience a social setback, as well as mental development and social skills.
Music is one of the most fantastical forms of entertainment. Its history stretches all the way from the primitive polyrhythmic drums in Africa to our modern day pop music we listen to on our phones. It has the ability to amaze us, to capture our attention and leave us in awe. It soothes the hearts of billions, and it is so deeply rooted in my life that it has touched my heart as well. Everyday I walk to the beat of the song stuck in my head and hum along to the melody. For me, to listen to music be lifted into the air by the hands of your imagination and float around for a while. You forget about your worries, your troubles and find peace within the sound. Every chapter in my life is attached with a song. Every time I listen to a certain song, thoughts of my past come flooding back
Music is that one friend that will always be there and will never judge us. It changes and has a huge impact on lives tremendously. There will always be that one song that can make a person get up and go. Sometimes, when we are sick it helps to take away some of the sorrow, pain, and it comforts us the best way it can. (White)
Ever since I was a small child, I have loved music. The strong, steady beats, the
Music has always been a big part of my life. Music is not just a bunch of melodies, rhythms, and vibrant sounds. It is a comfort to me. The lyrics of a song challenge my intellect and the rhythms and beats affect my emotions. Music understands me when people don’t. At times it takes me back to an event in my life or even in history. Both consciously and subconsciously my mind remembers the emotions that are attached to a certain song. It can make me feel on top of the world or the complete opposite; music can change the atmosphere and also set the mood. Music has power over my human soul. It soothes it. I cannot imagine not having music to listen to. It is a powerful force and my love for it is incredible.
Through music we are able to comprehend someone’s personality, their views, their culture, and who they are as an overall person. The music you listen to is a reflection of who you are and your own personal thoughts. As I reflect on the music I listen to I came to the conclusion that I gravitate towards songs that depict the emotions we feel through lyrics while being able to relate it to my own personal experiences.
