Dear daddy, first let me start with I love you. I know you wanted a son who would rise up above you. Stand tall and be a man. Never fall and always do what you can't. It wasn't the reality. You always have to shout at me. Cuz everything you say goes in one ear and out you see. It's never on purpose. Since birth, I have felt that I'm worthless. Cursed. Never to amount to shit. But look at what I'm up against. You're amazing. People see you in me on Occasion. We're meant to be great, but you take it to the next level. You're like Christ, and I'm the devil. You do what's right and I'm a rebel. My whole life, I've watched you excel. I sit and cry while all I do is dwell. I'm living in hell. Can't seem to get it right. I try my best, to shine, …show more content…
Be the type of man to make you proud. Stand up and shout without a doubt, that I'm your son. Introduce me to the crowd that I'm the one. Scream my name out loud and let's have some fun. Christopher Hess will leave you spun. Second guessing your own questions until you're done. Daddy, I know I've let you down. To me you're a king, you deserve a crown. I'm nothing but a peasant. The lowest from the town. Nothings ever pleasant when I come around. I stand my ground and fight my demons. One on one I face these creatures. I feel I'm bound, call in the preacher. Bless me father for I have sinned. I'm so much farther from where I begin. It's a slaughter, but I'm bound to win. I'm my father's son, I am his twin. A version with a lot to learn. A father's son, is a title to earn. The way I live is a bit of a concern. I've toted guns and went on the run. Sold some drugs from state to state, city to city, with no debate. Never hesitate to penetrate, a new drug ring in which I create. Buy for cheap and prices raised. Roll
There is no greater bond then a boy and his father, the significant importance of having a father through your young life can help mold you to who you want to become without having emotional distraught or the fear of being neglected. This poem shows the importance in between the lines of how much love is deeply rooted between these two. In a boys life he must look up to his father as a mentor and his best friend, the father teaches the son as much as he can throughout his experience in life and build a strong relationship along the way. As the boy grows up after learning everything his father has taught him, he can provide help for his father at his old-age if problems were to come up in each others

“Tricky business, fathers and sons. In my case, a lot needed settling,” (7) acknowledges author Craig Lesley in his personal narrative Burning Fence: A Memoir of Fatherhood. This book delves into relationships between fathers and their sons. The introspective writer employs flash-forwards and flashbacks, effectively keeping the reader enrapt and drawing connections between the generations of Lesleys. Near the end of the book, the writer inserts effective concluding thoughts he holds towards his father. While the memoir displays an unhealthy view of unforgiveness, it portrays the importance of a father figure in a child’s life.
I think this is the question Collective soul is asking the person or group of people who are setting out to bring him down. Maya Angelou asks a similar question when she writes, “Does my haughtiness offend you?'; “Don’t you take it awful hard cause I laugh like I’ve got diamonds at the meeting of my thighs.'; This question is being asked to her opponent that chooses to treat her differently just like what collective Soul is asking in their song. In my opinion they are asking their enemies, why do you do this to me? What have I done to make you so awful mad, that you go out of your way to bring me down?
This suggests that they have been barred from heaven for what they have done in the past, but have not done enough wrong to be placed into hell. This means the place they are in now could be classified as a kind of purgatory, where all they can do is wait. Nothing they do can change who they are. The singer also mentions that he spoke to God, and she said that she is ashamed. So for these vets, God to them could have been their wife, daughter, or family in general, and they left the vet out of shame. Then the singer suggests that he spoke to the devil, and the devil states that he is not to blame. The devil in this sense could be the vets internal dialog, not knowing where he went wrong to deserve this. As the song goes on, Gods’ words start to affect the vet, making him feel ashamed of who he is become. The devils words also start to affect him, making his inner dialog turn into a self-hatred to the point where he can not even look at himself. The lyrics progress to the point where the vet starts to “get closer to the end, getting closer every day” (5FDPVevo, 2013). It is clear that the vets self-hatred and shame towards himself has led him to the brink of

When I was younger, I had so much respect for you; our father-son bond was unbreakable. But you just pumped me full of fake affection and made me feel as if I was on top of the world being able to accomplish anything. Just like the time I took the football and you made me feel as if it was okay to steal. You told me all these great stories about how you were this salesmen who was known all over the country but those were lies.
Men and women have always contrasted in the way they communicate, and when it comes to dads, there is even more of an enigma. Thankfully Deborah Tannen a Georgetown linguistics professor tackled the roots of why the difference occurs. In the article “Why Dad’s Don’t Talk” Tannen states women are the chief communicators in a household: therefore dads are not comfortable having conversations of strong emotions. This lack of comfort is exacerbated by the fact that most men believe they should not show weak emotions. The conversational styles of men, which are brought to light by Tannen are invoked in the film Men of Honor.
In the four years since we became parents, I have learned to stand back, step aside, and let Daddy do it – HIS WAY. I have learned to encourage him. I have learned to appreciate him. I have learned not to question or criticize his efforts. And I have learned not to insist that he do things my way – unless I want to wind up doing it myself going forward. I’m not perfect – I still have my moments where my mommy control flips on and I think that my way is the only right way. But, deep down, I know better. I know just how good Daddy is at being a daddy!
I was raised by my mother and grandmother. They kept my head leveled and taught me that working hard leads to success. I loved them, and they were my role models. I grew up in a middle class family with strong women. I learned independence, and the strong will to never give up. It was the summer of 2005 when my mother re-married, and I was in the eighth grade. My mother was happy because she found the conclusion to her life: a husband. I was ecstatic because I finally had a daddy! My hopes, wishes, and dreams had come true. I felt that God answered my prayers. I loved having a father figure, although I had certain doubts. My uncertainty came from the way he looked at me. He looked at me the way men crave women. However, I concealed my unclear feelings because I did not want to ruin the current circumstances. Unfortunately, all of my suspicions were true.
In Italian Dante Alighieri (1265) Poem, The Divine Comedy Inferno, Translated by Mark Musa. Dante demonstrates the value of personal development which is the ability to keep a balanced life and continuously learn from past mistakes in order to create a better future. Dante begins the poem wrapped in his own thoughts and suffering but by the end of the poem he begins to understand other’s sufferings beyond his own. In his growth throughout his journey he learns about pain and sorrow that he cannot comprehend. He becomes more aware of the torture that is around him. At the beginning he appears to think that his life was horrible but by the end of the poem he seems to realize that he can make his and others lives better by becoming a better person. Dante also learns how to respect others by learning why the shades are in hell without judging them for their crimes, a few times however Dante disregards the core value of respect when he comes across a few shades that he personally disliked during that shades life time. Dante feels that a shade deserves to be psychically harm a shade when the shade does not respond. This shows complete disregard of the respect core value. The core value of excellence is also represented by Dante. The excellence core value is striving to be the best in all that you do and to always try to do everything better than the last time. As he goes through the layers of hell he learns more about life and gains courage that he lacked at the beginning of the poem.
Most people would see growing up without a father as troublesome, lonely, pitiful, and hard. Well, for the most part it’s true; it could certainly be all of these things at times, but other times you forget that people even have fathers until you go to a friend’s house, or a cousin’s house and look at their big, happy, prosperous family. Or when someone in the desk next to you is talking to their table-neighbor, standing by the cubbies, in the bathroom stall, talking about what their “daddy” just bought them. One time, I made a friend. She was adopted, and she had no parents and that was when I knew that I didn’t have it as bad as I very well could have. I grew up with a mom who worked herself to the bone day-by-day at a fast-food restaurant,
Dante’s The Divine Comedy illustrates one man’s quest for the knowledge of how to avoid the repercussions of his actions in life so that he may seek salvation in the afterlife. The Divine Comedy establishes a set of moral principles that one must live by in order to reach paradise. Dante presents these principles in Inferno, where each level of Hell has people suffering for the sins they committed during their life. As Dante gets deeper into Hell, the degrees of sin get progressively worse, as do the severity of punishment.
The year was 2005, I was 8 years old, and I had just started my fourth month of third grade. I hadn’t seen my father in a couple of months and, though I constantly asked my mother, I couldn’t for the life of me remember where it was that he had gone to. The only thing that I remember of what my mother said to me when I asked her his whereabouts was that it was, “un lugar muy diferente” (this translates into, “a very different place.”) One day she told me that I was finally going to get to see my father again and I got very excited. There was one catch though, he was not coming back, it was instead we who had to move to where he
Adam, a corporal officer, starts as man who works everyday to catch the ‘villains’ of society, but is not spending enough time with his family, especially his son. He favors his nine year old daughter over his fifteen year old son. Adam views his daughter as a sweet child, and his son as a stubborn teenager who is going through a rebellious stage. However, when his daughter is killed in an accident, his perspective of family changes. In his grief, he states that he wishes he had been a better father. His wife reminds him that he still is a father and he realizes that he still has a chance with his son, Dylan.
