Miss Misery” by Elliott Smith- This is the first track I selected, as it seems to be inspiration for at least the title of the book. The song fits very nicely with the first few chapters as David’s girlfriend, Amy, leaves for The Hague. The song has a theme similar to that of Miss Misery, but not close enough that I would say it served as inspiration for the book. “Well Respected Man” by The Kinks- I chose this song to reflect David’s view of himself at the beginning of the book. David goes on about how “responsible” he is, but the events of the book hardly reflect that. The word “responsible” seems to be a synonym for boring in David’s eyes; just like in this song. “Once in a Lifetime” by Talking Heads- This song is perfect for the exact David is trying to figure out what the dopplegänger even wants from him as he is continually harassed. At this point, David is still chasing Miss Misery and trying to hold on to everything he can, but a decision must be made. “The Pretender” by Foo Fighters- A very fitting title along with an abundance of fitting lyrics. This song could easily fit David, but not until later in the story. This, surprisingly, is the dopplegänger. As David is still figuring things out, our “Pretender” has decided he will take what David won’t. “My Own Worst Enemy” by Lit- David realizes he can’t blame all his troubles on the Dopplegänger. Ultimately, his own decisions are what put him in his current situation. It’s his own fault Amy left and he truly is his own worst enemy. “Where’s My Mind” by Pixies- The main reason I selected this song was the review on the back cover of Miss Misery which dubs it “emo Fight Club.” Although this, in my own opinion, doesn’t quite fit Miss Misery, “Where’s My Mind” does. This song serves as an extension of David’s previous realization. While “My Own Worst Enemy” shows David’s anger, “Where’s My Mind” shows his
David, the main character in the book, realizes that his girlfriend Hilary has cheated on him. To make things even worse she is cheating with one of his friends from the football team, Sam. David tries to talk to Hilary but she thinks he hasn’t been the same since his mother died about a year ago. Later, David beats up Sam at a party.
First, David’s mother gave him enough courage to keep hope his father would be all right after the Nazis arrested him. Because their own house was no longer safe from Nazi invasion, David’s family was staying with friends. However, Nazis burst into the house they were staying in on...
I have chosen to do two songs waiting on a woman by Brad Presley witch the whole song makes a gender stereotype about woman always making a man wait. The second song I choose to do is George Straits A fathers Love which enforces it’s hard to be a father and what a good strong dad role model is. Both songs spoke to me in different ways.
Lying and keeping secrets can only hurt someone in the end. This is true for David in the book “The Memory Keeper's Daughter,” written by Kim Edwards. He intentionally deceived others, but his dishonesty was meant for good intentions based on his and his family’s best interest. Or so he thought.
The song “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns n’ Roses relates and is reflective of the character Jack in the book The Lord of the Flies. The lyrics not only describe Jack’s character during his stay on the island, but it represents his view and experience on the island throughout.
David. Finally,Uncle Axel tell David about a boy of the name Marther and how he published a book on
A loss of David’s innocence appears during his killing of a magpie. This “it can be done in a flick of the finger”. The particular significance about this plays an important part in his as he considers that he also is capable of committing such unfortunate yet immoral things. “Looking in the dead bird’s eye, I realised that these strange, unthought of connections - sex and death, lust and violence, desire and degradation - are there, there, deep in even a good heart’s chambers”.
At first, David cares that his mother treats him badly. After awhile, he doesn’t care and becomes apathetic.
1. In the book, the father tries to help the son in the beginning but then throughout the book he stops trying to help and listens to the mother. If I had been in this same situation, I would have helped get the child away from his mother because nobody should have to live like that. The father was tired of having to watch his son get abused so eventually he just left and didn’t do anything. David thought that his father would help him but he did not.
He tries to explain that in order to be happy, one must put himself in other people's shoes, to know that there is another world that you must enter that revolves around another individual. A person must learn that he must look at both sides of the road before crossing the road of judgment. Meaning that a person must think twice before judging someone due to the fact that you are incapable off reading other people's minds thus you cannot make a judgment about how tough their lives are and the daily hardships that they have to put up with. Before you start complaining about how long the line at the store is, realise that you are not the only person waiting in line and that there are other people waiting in line too just like you are. David uses plenty of metaphors and examples in order to further explain to the audience his statement. One example he uses in the beginning of the story is the fish example, where two young fish meet an older fish who asks them "how is the water", the two young fish then go on to reply by saying "what the hell is water?". After reading through the story, one realises that what the author means by 'water' is that in this scene, water is the representation of life. Thus you can think of it as the older fish asking the

“I won’t let go” by Rascal Flatts is meant to represent the deep bond most sages form with their hero.
Darry didn’t have a good beginning but at least he has a family that cares for him. The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton
David starts off the movie as a loner and an innocent. He doesn’t really like his school and would rather spend his time watching the tv show Pleasantville. When a tv repairman takes both David and Jennifer into the tv and in the alternate reality of Pleasantville, he continues to stay as the innocent character. He realizes that he loves being in this alternate world, and does everything in his power to keep it that way. To him, living his life as Bud was everything he ever wanted.
