In Rogers and Hammerstein's South Pacific, the main theme is racial
prejudices. The two main characters, Emile de Becque and Nellie Forbush are
faced with these problems as they attempt a relationship. Two other minor
characters, Lt. Joe Cable and Liat, are faced with the same dilemma. Both
Nellie and Joe Cable have a hard time coping with their own racial prejudices;
Joe loves Liat, yet cannot marry her because she is Tonkinese ; Nellie loves
Emile, but cannot marry him because of his former Polynesian wife. It is these
prejudices that set the state for what might be the most significant scene in
the production. In act 2, scene 3, Nellie reveals her prejudices to Emile.
I can't help it. It isn't as if I could give
you a good reason. There is no reason. This
is emotional. It's something that is born in me.
She looks to Cable for help in describing what she feels, but he offers no help.
Emile tells her that it is not born in her, that it cannot be born in her.
Nellie, who is crying, runs off. Emile is left with Joe, who is thinking over
his own relationship with Liat. Emile asks him why he and Nellie think that
these prejudices are born in them. Joe, giving him the product of his thoughts,
tell him "It's not born in you."
It is at this point that Joe Cable begins singing "Carefully Taught," a
character song in which Joe is able to vent his frustrations and anger about his
own ...

Dentistry involves many tasks and a strict code of ethics that dentists must master. What do dentists do? The best definition of dentists’ duties, according to Hopke, an American writer who wrote an educational book about various careers is, “Dentists attempt to maintain their clients’ teeth through such preventive and reparative practices as extracting, filling, cleaning, or replacing teeth.” Dentists perform corrective work such as straightening teeth and treating diseased tissue of the gums. These tasks are sometimes done by orthodontists rather than a dentist, but dentist also, on occasion, performs surgical operations on the jaw or mouth, so the arch can fit false teeth (Hopke 455).
It is a vital role of a dentist to prevent the dental problems in order to decrease the number of oral disease.

If I had to pick an occupation, it would be a dental hygienist. When you’re a dental hygienist, you basically just clean the patient’s teeth and see if they have a gum disease. They maintain the teeth to be nice, clean, and healthy. They remove the plaque, the tartar, take x-rays, check to see if there’s a gum disease, and many more. They also apply things such as sealants to protect the teeth, record their findings of the patient’s teeth, and educate the patient about their hygiene on their teeth. Overall, being a dental hygienist is all about oral hygiene.
Dental hygienists clean teeth, examine gums and teeth for signs of oral disease, educate patients on ways to improve and maintain good oral health, and provide other necessary dental care. Specific duties of a dental hygienist include the application of sealants and fluoride to help protect teeth, removal of tartar stains and plaque
The profession is dramatically expanding in science and technology to lead a better level of artistry and standard-based practice. Although, it is not in high demand, according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, it should only increase by 26,000 thousand jobs from 2016 to 2026 which is about 17 percent. As long as oral health is getting linked to overall health, research will continue and service will be provided to the population as it ages. Dentist are specialized to "diagnose and treat problems with patients’ teeth, gums, and related parts of the mouth" (Bureau of Labor and Statistics). Their duties effects how their work environment is shaped too. Most dentists usually "work alone or with a small staff. (…), some work for more established dentists" (Bureau of Labor and Statistics). This is very common in both private and public practices throughout the nation. The average salary for a general dentist is 158, 310 dollars a year, which is about 78 dollars an hour if they worked full time (Bureau of Labor and Statistics). Majority of the time dentist won't work full time if they are a public practice because they usually are partnering with another dentist. This field of work requires an abundance of education, skill, patience and practice which means class sizes in dental programs need to be small enough for teachers to successfully teach every student,
Picture yourself with a tooth ache or someone with poor hygiene and knowing you cannot do anything to change it without a dentist. A dentist is specialized individual that treats the diseases and conditions that affect the oral cavity.
Dentistry is a huge successful field to consider working in for a life time. It can benefit the dentist financially and emotionally. The steps of becoming a dentist can be very difficult and expensive. The expenses include the cost of college, dental school, and supplies. Most struggle to pay back loans that was used to pay for college. The question that is raised is if the expenses are worth becoming an orthodontist. Orthodontics make a lot of money and seem as if they have a joyful job helping others. The pay from this specialized dentist will surely pay back student loans with no problem.
Dentist must also promote dental health and dental visits in a new way. Compared to the early 1700’s,when Paris was one of the centers of Science and culture.
