(Pittsburgh, PA) According to the Centers for Disease Control, an estimated 50 to 70 million Americans suffer from a sleep disorder. This remains of concern as a lack of sleep has been linked to industrial disasters, motor vehicle accidents and medical and occupational errors. Individuals who regularly fail to get enough sleep are more prone to chronic illnesses, such as depression, obesity and diabetes. In addition, those who don't get adequate sleep are more at risk of cancer, reduced quality of life, increased mortality and decreased productivity. Thankfully, somnapure offers an all natural sleep solution for individuals who struggle with this issue.

Melatonin helps to regulate the sleep cycle, allowing the body to return to a regular sleep routine. This is of importance, as melatonin levels tend to naturally decrease as a person ages. In addition, the product contains L-Theanine, an amino acid which helps to increase alpha-wave activity and relax the mind.
"Other ingredients found in Somnapure include Valerian Extract, an herb used to reduce the amount of time needed to fall asleep and to improve sleep quality, and hops extract, which increases alpha-waves when combined with Valerian. Other ingredients found in this product are lemon balm, chamomile flower and passion flower. Individuals feel confident using this product, as all items are completely natural, thus there is little risk of side effects," Walters continues.
Somnapure has been clinically tested and who to increase the amount of time a person spends in sleep. In addition, when a person uses this product, they find the amount of REM sleep they get increases. When choosing a product for this purpose, individuals need to ensure they are selecting a product that has been proven to work, and Somnapure definitely fits into this
I did not participate in the snap challenge because I am on the university’s meal plan. However, I still participated in the snap challenge process and afterwards I came to the following conclusions. The grocery list was very challenging; I decided to shop for my food online instead of going to the grocery store. My first resource was Walmart, but they did not have the prices for many foods. It was then that I started to realize my monies were depleting quickly. Throughout this assignment I realized that dollars add up and purchasing the store brand items are not always the cheaper way. I thought about which grocery stores provide the pickup option and I chose Lowes Foods. When I finished my list I realized that I forgot to calculate tax, as
Tryptophan is an essential amino acid, one of the building blocks of protein. It is termed essential because the body cannot manufacture it on its own. When tryptophan enters the body in the presence of pyridoxine (B6), it is converted into 5-Hydroxy L-Tryptophan, or 5-HTP. This, in turn, converts into seratonin, a neurotransmitter. Neurotransmitters are extremely important at the neurochemical and physiological level, as they carry impulses between nerve cells. Seratonin can be converted into melatonin, which regulates the sleep wake cycle. Elevated levels of seratonin are credited with relief of depression, reduced pain sensitivity, lessened anxiety and stress and a feeling of calm and sleepiness. Seratonin deficiencies are blamed for depression and insomnia. I recognized that name from the new sleep supplements out there. Hence, I thought to myself, the whole drowsy thing.
Some of the herbs used in making sleepytime include chamomile, slippery Elm Bark, Valerian, Lavender and Lemon Balm. There is less scientific prove or evidence to show the effectiveness of these herbs in helping you sleep. However, many
Chronic sleep loss is becoming more common in modern culture and less restricted to sleep-deprived diseases such as insomnia. Suggested to be the result of a number car, industrial, medical, and other occupational accidents, sleep deprivation is beginning to be recognized as a public concern. Natural products, also referred to as complementary and alternative medicine, uses herbal medicine or therapy as treatment. These types of practices are described as “medical practices that are unproven by science and not presently considered an integral part of conventional medicine” (Pearson). People use herbal medicines such as valerian, chamomile, passion flower, and lavender to help with insomnia. Each of those plants often make tea to drink before going to bed, but a lavender plant’s scent intermixes within soaps and other bathroom products. Acupuncture and hot baths can also treat insomnia and improve sleep by a great deal by relaxing the patient. Taking hot baths a couple hours before going to bed treats insomnia by raising the body temperature and resulting in a deeper sleep (Epstein).
Each year at least 40 million Americans suffer from long term, persistent sleep disorders, and an additional 20 million experience occasional sleeping problems. About 60 million Americans a year have insomnia and it tends to increase with age and affects about 40 percent of women and 30 percent of men. It is estimated that 18 million Americas are suffering from sleep apnea, 12 million have RLS, and 250,000 are affected by narcolepsy. Adults typically need between 6 and 10 hours of sleep per 24 hour period, and most people need approximately 8 hours of sleep per day. Infants generally need about 16 hours per day; whereas, teenagers require 9 hours on average. In the first 3 months of...
Sometimes I have trouble sleeping. I lie in bed for hours while my mind churns through endless streams of fragmented thoughts and memories, bits of brain matter that I do not have time for in my waking life. I have tried the homeopathic remedies. I drink “calming” teas, take showers, and inhale scents advertised to promote sleep and relaxation. I even have a lavender neck pillow. Nevertheless, when I am inflicted with a bout of sleeplessness, there is usually very little I can do but wait it out. I stay away from sleep drugs.
Sleep is one of our basic needs to survive and to function in day to day operations, but not everyone needs the same amount of sleep. Some people can survive on very little sleep, i.e. five hours a night, and some people need a lot of sleep, to the extend that they are sleeping up to 10 to sometimes 15 hours a night (Nature, 2005). According to Wilson (2005) the general rule states that most people need from seven to eight hours of sleep. The deprivation of sleep in our society in continually increasing with the demands in society increasing work loads, the myth that a few hours of sleep is only necessary to function properly and that sleep is sometimes considered as killing time (Nature, 2005). Sometimes sleep deprivation is also caused by other situations like sleep disorders, i.e. sleep apnea, chronic insomnia or medical conditions such as stress (Wilson, 2005).
Sleeping is something that is an essential part of human nature and is a must in order for one to be a functional human being. Sleep is an idea that is accompanied by many wives’ tales, including the idea that one needs seven to eight hours of sleep each night and alcohol helps one fall asleep and sleep more soundly. One myth about sleep is that during sleep, one is in a state of nothingness. In truth, however, it has been discovered that during sleep the brain is active, variations in heartbeat and breathing occur, and the eyes and ears are active throughout the time of sleep. These activities during a person’s sleep are important because they help that person be more aware, awake, and alert during sleep.
Sleep is important for many reasons. Nothing can replace a good night of sleep, not even any pills or vitamins. We all have a internal body clock which makes us feel sleepy throughout the day. Our internal body clock controls the "circadian rhythms" in our bodies. These "circadian rhythms" are what let our bodies know when we are sleepy and it also tells us when we suppose to be awake. (UCLA) Our bodies know when it is time to prepare for bed, a hormone called melatonin is released when it is dark outside which causes our bodies to feel tired. (Mann, Denise) It is very important to listen to our bodies. This is something most teens don’t do. During the day a compound called adenosine builds up in our bodies and when we go to sleep our bodies break that adenosine that had been building up throughout the day. Adenosine is a nucleoside that occurs naturally in all cells of the body. Chemically it is 6- amino-9- beta-D- ribofuranosyl-9-H-purine (Mandal). Adenosine is an important hormone in sleep. As soon as we wake up, adenosine builds up in our brains. During the day, as the hours go by it continues to build up...
Across the world, hundreds of individuals are being affected by one common disease, Sleep Deprivation. This common problem is becoming more detrimental to their health than various types of cancer. Many are losing daily sleep, in such a way that it has become a constant struggle to stay awake during work, class, and even worse driving. This problem has grown to the point of endangerment for not only the individual driver but also others on the road.

Getting enough sleep can increase our chances of being more mentally/physically healthy and our safety throughout the day. How we feel throughout the day is depending on our sleep. Lack of sleep can lead to impaired judgment and actions, which can be a safety hazard towards yourself and your surroundings. When we sleep, our bodies are working to revitalize the brain to form new pathways to help with memory functions and our physical health such as healing repair heart and blood vessels and hormone balance. It is very important for everyone to maintain a good night’s rest to maintain daytime performance and lower stress. Sleep will reduce the levels of stress, help others gain control on their actions and avoid depression. Contributing to these sleep benefits will change your body and mind

Sleep is important and necessary for quality mental and physical health as well as quality of life and safety (NHLBI, 2012). People with sleep deficiency are at an increased risk of motor vehicle accidents, are prone to reduced work productivity, and have decreased levels of concentration (Hedges, 2012). Continued sleep deficiency can raise one’s risk for chronic health problems (NHLBI, 2012). Therefore, a consistent sleep pattern is necessary to achieve and maintain quality of life.
