As we look at developmental process there are a few key issues that we focus on, those include biological, cognitive and socioemotional processes. The biological process produces changes in people physical nature. Genes are inherited from parents. Biological processes that affect development include; weight gains, nutrition, hormonal changes in puberty and development of the brain. The cognitive process deals with changes in peoples thinking, their brilliance and language. It affects mental content. The last is socioemotional, this deals with peoples relationship with others, changes in emotions and personalities. These processes all work together.
Biological changes in the infancy stage include the most obvious change in infancy. In infancy the body grows very fast and neurons in the brain form networks. Teeth come in and muscles strengthen as crawling and walking occur. Speech develops and fine motor skills start to develop. During infancy in the socioemotional process the attachment behaviors that infants display change with development in this process. Infants usually attach to someone that they spend a lot of time with, they see that person as someone who will protect them. Other emotional expressions develop such as surprise, sadness, anger, and fear. When a infant smiles that is seen as a response to a parent or caregivers touch. During infancy the cognitive process is changing just as quickly as the biological changes, while infants learn about their environment and they make new connections between their nerve cells which helps growth. Physical growth is easy to see and observe and is also easy to measure, cognitive change is harder to measure.

In the cognitive process things start to decline as well, a slowdown of the central nervous system also happens. The socioemotional process in late adulthood some people will start to wonder and think back on their lives and they will have different responses based on how they have lived their lives, people will either have a positive impact on the world and feel at peace with themselves or they will feel despair. Throughout our whole lives we go through biological, cognitive and socioemotinal processes. We develop differently depending on our age and what stage of life we are at. Each of these processes are equally important to growing up and developing!
