Introduction This thesis is about refugee’s social integration and the role of community based organisation in Kristiansand, Norway. More refugees who arrive in Norway are from non-western countries. They face more challenges in their everyday life in Norway. This study is about how the CBO’s address their challenges and difficulties which refugees are facing in their everyday life. I have selected three community based organisations for my study. They are LUNAR women’s group Kristiansand, KIA international organisation and Natteravnene in Kristiansand. This research follows two inter-related objectives. One is to explore what difficulties the refugees experience in their everyday life. When refugees arrive in Norway they send to different municipalities. Municipalities are accepting the number of refugees, according to their financial capacities and the resources. All the municipalities in Norway receive refugees (SSB, 2017). When the refugees arrive to the municipality, the responsibility of integrating them into Norwegian society goes to the municipality. Different municipalities have their own integration programs. Some of the municipalities are achieving good progress and some municipalities refugees are not satisfying to them. According to the county chapter of the integration in Norway (2013) mentioned municipalities get the help from the local community to make the successful integration . A voluntary sector of the civil society gets more importance in the integration process. Volunteer organization can ask funds for their projects from the municipalities.
