Social Factors Affecting Mental Health

Factors affecting women’s mental health were examined. Completed research studied young and older adult women to detect factors affecting their mental health. Younger adults were susceptible to stressors related to coming of age. In contrast, older adults exhibited more risk factors associated with role strain. Together, these findings suggest that stressors are continuous and women must adjust their methods of handling stress accordingly. Mental health is as important as physical health. Poor mental health can negatively affect activities of daily living, decrease productivity, and spoil meaningful relationships. The World Health Organization’s defines mental health as a “state of well-being” ("Mental health: a state of well-being", 2014). This definition of mental health can be considered a state of happiness that allows individuals to go about their activities of daily …show more content…

Mental health is controlling how you think, respond, and feel without letting it control you. Biological, social, and psychological factors all impact mental health.
