Social determinants can greatly influence the health of individuals and their communities. These social determinants can lead to health inequities that can be corrected through well-established policies and interventions. In my previous discussion assignment for unit 3, I discussed social determinants such as income, education, material circumstances, and so on that greatly impact my country’s overall health status, and possible health policies. I think these policies should be reinforced through different approaches from various perspectives with the involvement of everyone. Further explanations regarding the relationship between health and other social determinants are also stated (WHO, 2010). Thus, in my opinion, in the policymaking process, collaboration among the different government sectors should be enhanced to address the social determinants of health and to minimize the health inequities. Moreover, it was also suggested by Kaplan and Anderson (1990) that health policy models should integrate different health dimensions and their interactions in the community and emphasize the factors that influence health outcomes in society. In this way, policymakers can develop more holistic interventions to lessen the health disparities within the community. In addition to the involvement of different government sectors, I believe evidence research can help to carry out policymaking processes. Ellen et al. (2018) also emphasized the significance of identifying evidence that social determinants need to be fixed in health policy
