With the Laotong relationship that Lily and Snow Flower have, their friendship means the world to the both of them. Lupica shows what real friendship is, as shown in the book Game Changers. In this book the author has friends helping Ben from the first page to the last one. Ben's friend Lily, who is a really good softball player, helps him get rid of his fear of the ball, when “she decides on her own to pitch to Ben so he can gain his confidence back”. Another way Lupica shows friendship is when Ben is going through his hitting slump. Ben’s “teammates rally behind him in the dugout and give him words of confidence”. ... relationships, although different from each other, were based on status and protection. Janie chose Jody to fill in the feelings that were unsatisfied by Logan. She felt the need for change, but she did not live freely and peacefully with Jody. Her previous marriages had killed the life inside of her, and Tea Cake revived her. The last experience on her journey taught her everything there was to know about love. She learns that love acts differently than a grindstone and does not have the same effect on everything. Friendship has a big part to do with Lennie and George’s dream of owning a small farm and raising animals. George and Lennie both set their mind to accomplish their dream and go to work on a ranch for little pay. Another friend of George overhears George and Lennie talking about their idea, Candy offers to put in his monthly wage to buy the farm as long as he lives on it. Lennie and George have to go through many things on the farm and still stick together like brothers. Curley, the son of the boss, runs most of the ranch and has a mean attitude towards George and Lennie, George then realizes that no one cares for Lennie like he does. George and Curley’s wife create a strong bond throughout the book , but George wants nothing to do with it because he is there to accomplish his goal not to start relationships. Many factors in this book show a sense of friendship in some way.

Later Janie met Tea Cake at the store, not wanting to get involved in another relationship, fell for his charm. Tea Cake made Janie feel young and happy like she was when she was younger. Janie was scared to get involved in another relationship because she did not want to expect the best and get hurt again. Anything Janie and Tea Cake did made Janie fall more in love with him. Even when they got in arguments Janie could not stay mad at him for a long period of time because she would fall right back into his charisma. “Ah sell groceries right here in dis store, Tea Cake, if you don't happen to know.” She tried to look cold but she was smiling in spite of herself (108). Janie was so happy when Tea Cake was around that she could never be mad enough to not smile or laugh with him. Tea Cake, unlike Joe, allowed Janie to be herself and do whatever she wanted to make herself happy. Tea Cake was the true love Janie had been looking for her whole
... with financial stable people who would give her the protection she needed. Though through the relationships she realized that these dreams and ideas of what love entitles is different when it comes to the person and their own wisdom and how they interpret life. For Janie her life with Jody made the impact that being with a guy who could buy her everything and anything may not be her dream but rather a person who accepted her for who she was and saw her as an individual rather than an object to own. That is why the peace she was able to receive came from memories with Tea Cake. When it came to Jody she didn’t need any memories or anything because she was done with him even before his death had came. In Their Eyes Were Watching God, Janie’s relationships with Tea Cake and Jody were impacted from their treatment acceptance of her and how she responds to their deaths.
August was more of a friend to Lily. They shared many interests. One of these interests was to mix cola with peanuts. Another interest that they shared was that they loved beekeeping. Rosaleen did not have as much in common as Lily did. She was more of a caretaker to Lily than a friend. When they lived with T. Ray she would cook dinner and dress Lily up. Even though Lily does not have much in common with her she still loves her.
The flowers in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, each represent a different personality for the women and girls that take care of them. Each person’s flower gives an insight into their lives and behaviors. May they represent love, kindness, or stupidity, they all help us understand the person’s life and decisions. As said by Scout Finch, ”Neighbors bring food with death and flowers with sickness and little things in between.”, in To Kill A Mockingbird on page 327. But why were these flowers so important to the book? What do all the flowers represent and why are they associated with certain characters?

I have chosen to work on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K Rowling for several reasons. Primarily, the book provides a various number of interesting challenges for the translator. Also, it contains several cultural markers; its text is abundant of references from other popular books for children. For instance, we can notice innumerable aspects from mystery and adventure series written by Enid Blyton within the world of Harry. The writer also uses her acquaintances of French and Latin in her origination of names and ideas that appertain to her fantasy universe.
The elusion of love gives it a unique and mesmerizing quality. Although Terri cannot explain why she loved her abusive husband, the reader can conceives that the situation goes beyond plain words. She had an intuitive sentiment, which is more powerful and precise than words can ever illustrate. Nick, who rarely speaks in the conversation, makes physical signals that are more pure and clearer than language can ever communicate. He shows his affection to Terri by holding her hand and touching her leg. Their inability to explain their love for each other signifies the mystery of love. We depend on logic to define it because it helps us figure out so much in life, such as solve problems and answer questions. Being a doctor, Herb is accustomed to working with the tangible and understanding how things work. This is perhaps why he has a tenacious struggle to define love and appears callow when it comes to loving. Love, though, is different. It is not contingent on rationality. We must be willing to take risks and listen to what our heart is telling us. By the end of the conversation, the friends have become very intoxicated. This is a reflection of their escalated confusion and hopelessness to express an articulate definition of
