Most people as myself believe sleep to be the best part of their day. It’s very relaxing and nice to be able to just lay down and snooze for a little while. Well people have also done lots and lots of research over the ways that sleep occurs and everything going on. The average hours for sleep a night are 7-10. Obviously if you do not get enough sleep you will notice you will be tired, but if you get too much sleep you will also notice that you are tired as well. Too much sleep is not good for you.
Although it is pretty obvious what sleep is I am still going to explain what it is and where it has come from. Shakespeare descired sleep to be “Nature’s soft nurse” So as most of us know when we lay down we tend to get tired and fall asleep well this action usually happens at night time for most people or if you really exhausted from work or even school. Some people may say that sleep is some time of unconsciousness, but that is definitely not true. Sleep is a complex process of active internal restoration., recuperation, and reconsolidation, which is very good for your health and your life. Our sleeping schedule is made up of several different cycles. As most of you know dreams occur often for some people. You may begin to believe they are a fascinating and also mysterious part of sleeping.
Dreams tell a lot about what is happening in your life or the things that are going on in your head. There are 7 major dreams that I will explain to you. This should give you a better sense of what might be going on when you have these specific dreams. 1. some of you may have a dream about your teeth falling out, breaking out, coming out very easily, or crumbling into many little pieces, which means that many of you are probably clenching your teeth together or even grinding them in your sleep. Experts say this dream could have both positive and negative meanings. It could be that you are taking better care of your body and your health or having anxiety, insecurities and not caring about yourself. 2. Some of you may begin to notice that you are suddenly naked in one of your dreams. So you could be in some spot in your dream and realize you have no clothes on. Like in a office, school hall, or at a special family event. Experts say that this represents deep feelings of vulnerability and shamefulness within yourself. These dream often happen when you are going through or have gone through a huge change in your life. Or when
you have self-doubt and low self-esteem. 3. Ever have that dream where you wake up inside your dream but you aren't actually awake in real life? This is most commonly referred to as a “False Awakening.” Normally this occurs when you believe you’ve woke up and you've started your daily routines. This dream normally happens when you are worried about the next day and something not going the way it should go. If you have this dream you should try and pay attention to the thoughts in your head. 4. If you have the dream where you catch yourself walking into a bathroom or anywhere and about to actually “GO,” end of discussion WAKE UP!! Unless you want to do some laundry. This dream normally happens when you go to bed having to go pee. 5. Ever have that weird dream where you are trying to get away from something or running away. No matter how hard you try, you just can not run. You're either running in slow motion or stuck in one spot. This dream is said to occur when you are stuck in a bad situation or going through a rough time. 6. It doesn’t seem to matter whether you are in or out of school and you have the dream that you are about to fail a huge test or final. When you show up to class and find out you have a final. Normally means you are stressed over a job that you need to get done. 7. That dream where you are being chased by someone or something is pretty self explanatory. It means that you have been running from a conflict going on in your life. So for about a third of your life you are asleep. When you are asleep your heart rate slows down, your muscles become very relaxed, you breathe slower than usual, and you begin in response to the outside world less. Sleep helps you to be energized for the next day upon you. Laura Schocker has said that there are a couples different stages of sleep. Stage one is when you wake up very shortly after you wake up and you realize that you feel like you haven't slept at all. Stage 2 is known as the average sleep, which is begin to hit a deep sleep. Stage 3 is the deepest sleep. It is when your brain waves become slow and function slowly. It is also know to be the stage that people sleep walk, talk, or eat. People also say that your body regulates the hormone that control how hungry you are, which is why you don’t wake up in the middle of the night starving. It may not always be easy to fit in 10 hours of sleep into your daily schedules, but now at least you can appreciate what happens when you do get good sleep. I as well as many, many others have done so much research of the things that happen when you sleep, the reasons they happen and why they happen. There is actually a lot to know about sleeping. Many people wouldn’t realize all these different things. So as I come to an end of this I hope you have taken an advantage of what I am telling you. I hope you realize all these different things you probably did not know about sleep.

Getting sufficient sleep is a basic human need and is vital for life. According to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, sleep is a high priority for survival. Having enough sleep is therefore important to restore body and brain functions, preserve energy, maintain general well-being and prevent illnesses.
When most people think of sleep, they think of it as a relaxed but yet not a very important part of our daily lives. What most people don’t understand is although we are not up and moving around and getting tasks completed, our brains are still very active. Without sleep our bodies do not function correctly on a daily basis, and our mental state is at risk.

It’s night after night of staring at the ceiling. It’s uncontrollably passing out at the most random times. Sleep insomnia is the effect of many diseases or even some medications. The question here is, what are the lifelong effects of insomnia, and are specific people more prone to sleep insomnia than others? If so, why?
Sleep is one of our basic needs to survive and to function in day to day operations, but not everyone needs the same amount of sleep. Some people can survive on very little sleep, i.e. five hours a night, and some people need a lot of sleep, to the extend that they are sleeping up to 10 to sometimes 15 hours a night (Nature, 2005). According to Wilson (2005) the general rule states that most people need from seven to eight hours of sleep. The deprivation of sleep in our society in continually increasing with the demands in society increasing work loads, the myth that a few hours of sleep is only necessary to function properly and that sleep is sometimes considered as killing time (Nature, 2005). Sometimes sleep deprivation is also caused by other situations like sleep disorders, i.e. sleep apnea, chronic insomnia or medical conditions such as stress (Wilson, 2005).
I was able to successfully complete four sleep pattern logs, including two week days and two weekend days. After comparing my sleep logs to each other, I believe that I have an adequate amount of sleep each day. Sleep is something that is important for growth, creative thinking, restoring and rebuilding memories, recuperation and protection of humans as individuals (Meyers, 98). Lack of sleep can lead to impaired judgment and actions, which can be a safety hazard towards yourself and your surroundings. When we sleep, our bodies are working to revitalize the brain to form new pathways to help with memory functions and our physical health such as healing repair heart and blood vessels and hormone balance. It is very important for everyone to maintain a good night’s rest to maintain daytime performance and lower stress.
