A local skater was interviewed and this is what he had to say about the skate comp. “I can’t wait for the skate comp.” He said, “all my mates are keen as. I’ve been skating since grade two. I’m tired of having to travel to Brisbane to compete in skate comps, so it’s awesome to have this comp at my local skate park. I’m hoping I’ll get discovered by a scout to join the pro team.” This interview really shows you that this skate comp is a great way for kids to show everyone their amazing talents. The police constable Tim Macintyre was also interviewed and he stated. “The Sunshine Coast council are certain this event will have a positive outcome for the coast. It will allow us to show our unique location to tourists, generate revenue for local businesses. We urge residents to take public transport, ride a bike or walk to the event. If you don’t have a bike or live far away from Dicky Beach then take a bus. All buses are FREE during the event. The Kawana police station will work with skatebiz to ensure maximum safety measures are put in place. NO drugs or alcohol. all the troublemakers will be penalised. It is an alcohol and drug free
My most impressive aspect about this facility is the way the shop and the golf course is set up to their guest. In the shop they have a area that allows people from the public to come in and watch golf or just lounge around in the lounge area. They even have a few golf related games on the inside for the younger crowd they attract. I also admire how the club looks into making everyone around the community happy by giving free lessons out on special occasions.
This means that they are dont have the right etiquette to be at the skatepark. Younger kids tend to be focused on their physical actions and are insufficiently

After being mesmerized by figure skating at the age of eight, I became a member of the Markham Skating Club. As a competitive figure skater, I must perform various jumps and spins in a choreographed program. I have participated in numerous competitions in Central Ontario and have received multiple medals for my achievements. Yet, my achievement as a figure skater stem from the adversity that I faced throughout my skating journey. This sport has imposed challenges to both my mental and physical strength that have ultimately constructed the qualities of dedication and humility within myself.
Skateboarders strive to find those skatespots because they are the best way of learning harder tricks, without driving miles to a visit a skatepark outside their city. That 's why skateboarders have a tendency to put themselves in risk of prosecution by the police just to be able to reach their goals of becoming sponsored one day. A sponsorship is when a company wants to pay you to represent their product. This isn’t an easy thing to earn, but with a lot of dedication anything can happen. A skatepark nearby will allow kids to start practicing at a young age, so one day they hav... ...
“It comes right here, 3 ½ revolution, triple axel, double toe loop… beautifully landed,” a voice in the background exclaims as an elegant skater gracefully lands her jump on the ice. That background voice has been heard by thousands, but many don’t know who it belongs to. It belongs to a petite male, who had awed a great number of people with his vigorous jumps on the Olympic ice skating rink. That voice belongs to Scott Hamilton, who grew up being made fun of, who overcame a number of health problems, who took the challenges life struck him with, for granted. Scott Hamilton is not only considered one of the best figure skaters of all time, but he is also a great role model, because despite the fact that he had a tough childhood, nonstop Olympic practice to deal with, and then later a cancer and brain tumor diagnosis; he always kept a good attitude and determination.
Skateboarding Is Not A Crime Each year hundreds of thousands of skateboarders get arrested each year for just skateboarding and about 5/6 of them didn’t commit a hurtful crime. Every day, at least one skateboarder gets arrested. Skateboarders don’t just get arrested but also get tickets, and there are a lot more tickets than there are arrests. If skateboarding was looked upon as a sport this many arrests and tickets would not occur. A group of teenagers could go out, get drunk then go rob stores and beat up people for no reason but a group of skateboarders are considered criminals.
For many individuals, skateboarding is an exciting and fun activity to participate in. Both children and adults have incorporated the sport into their lives recreationally or as a serious lifetime occupation. There are many reasons to why skateboarding can be a positive and rewarding experience for just about anyone. However, there are many individuals that find the sport to be dangerous and argue for its ban with flimsy opinions. The city should not pass a ban against skateboarders on all public property as there is no concrete argument on why their activities are harmful to such an extent; banning the sport would not only result in outrage from the abridgement of civil liberties and be an injustice to the diversity of our country, but force
"Brothers hope Edgerton skatepark will roll." Janesville Gazette [Janesville, WI] 2 Oct. 2006. Opposing Viewpoints In Context. Web. 22 Oct. 2013.
Skate parks in communities are an asset that reduces the number of skateboarders in inconvenient places. This domino effect reduces the number of complaints to police officers of the nuisance caused by skateboarders. One officer in Maine said, “The skaters are very respectful, and the skate park has cut down on the youth crime, especially vandalism and kids skating on the sidewalks. The park gives the kids something to do (“Cops Love Skateparks”). This officer’s words reflect how 90 percent of 92 officers felt about how skate parks are an asset to the community. Skate parks serve as an asset to the community because skaters do not have to trespass in order to practice their sport, and it keeps youths out of trouble. Another officer in Massachusetts said, “I can honestly say that, based on my 27 years of police work, if you can keep kids busy like the skate park has done, you have completely prevented a future adult offender (“Cops Love Skateparks”).” An asset like this for nearly 10 million skaters is priceless and every town should have one. In a literal sense skate parks get kids off the streets because it gives skaters a place to practice and perfect the sport they
Revered by some, and shamed by others — skateboarding is growing tremendously fast. In fact, the amount of skateboarders in the country has increased by over 128 percent over the past decade, now forming a population of 11 million skateboarders (Aperio). While skateboarders recognize the sport as a craft, many others see it as notorious, even criminal. This is due to the very nature of the sport. Skateboarders have built a dependency on street infrastructure, like stairs and ledges, in order to perform their tricks. Many cities have found a quick but rather futile solution to the complaints made by business owners and pedestrians; make skating illegal! The dramatic growth in skateboarders around the country has proved this method to be insufficient
If you are a teenager it is very likely you have stood on a skateboard in the last year or know someone who skates. This is because skateboarding is growing rapidly in today's society (Public Skatepark Development Guide). “It is surprising to learn that many cities and towns in the United States don’t have a single skatepark.” (Public Skatepark Development Guide). A man said this because he uses skateboarding as a way to bond with his son. When it comes to skateboarding in places where you do not have a skate park your places to skate are very slim. You have to skate on school campuses, parking lots, gas stations, etc… basically all places people would have a problem with. This is where skaters get the delinquent stereotype from (Public Skatepark Development Guide). When a community treats its skateboarders as outcasts or delinquents this is telling skaters they are not welcome there this is when skaters start to act out (Public Skatepark Development Guide). Newspapers have said for years that is your city does not have a skate park, your city becomes the skatepark (Public Skatepark Development

All moderately sized towns should have a skatepark for three main reasons: it will make the town look like a nice place to live, the kids in the town won’t be getting into trouble for skating around town, and it is a lot safer than skating in the streets. In countless cities around the world, well-built skateparks have also been proven to be valuable community assets with tremendous benefits. Instead of viewing skateboarding as a negative problem that needs to be solved, these forward-thinking communities have found ways to embrace these sports while showcasing their artistic and acrobatic spirit(“The Benefits”).
