I used Romeo’s diary because it provided a clear point of view of my character, and to express the theme that young love is impulsive. The diary adds Romeo’s perspective of Juliet to my paper, but it does this in an organized fashion. I used the diary to show how fast Romeo got over his love for Rosaline, and how quickly he decided to marry Juliet. These actions highlight Romeo’s impulsive nature and reckless thoughts. I chose the diary because it was a nice way to get Romeo’s thoughts and perspective. The Recipe’s ingredients represent qualities of Romeo and Juliet’s love and offers a deeper understanding of what their love is based on. Ingredients such as passion create a stronger bond between Romeo and Juliet, but there are also many ingredients that can ruin the recipe if used exceedingly. These ingredients represent things in Romeo and Juliet’s love such as unplanned decisions, spontaneous actions, and reckless ideas. These harmful ideas, actions, and decisions provide a strong base for the argument of the theme in the novel Romeo and Juliet. I chose to do a recipe because it is a good way to show what Romeo and Juliet’s love is based on. The recipe portrays my theme through the idea that Romeo and Juliet’s love is based off impulsive actions and decisions, and if these things are exceedingly present, they have the power to ruin their relationship.
