I think that the United States should have a similar policy to other counties. We should have every young person serve in the military.
Instead of two years, I think it should be at least three years in the military. If young people joined the military they would get a sense on patriotism and responsibility. I wouldn't want to force the people into the military but I think it would benefit them and our country. Countries where it is mandatory to join the military are places like Austria, Brazil, Bolivia, etc. Young people should join the military because it would provide educational opportunities, financial advantages, and it has different branches for different kinds of people.

By joining the Military, they are offered financial advantages. The payment isn't that great but if your in the military for less than two years a base pay is $1,467 per month. The National Guard and Military Reserves get monthly drill pay. With less than two years in the military, a Guard or a Reserve member in the lowest enlisted rank, would get $195.68 for a weekend of drill. Also, you would get tax free pay for specific things like housing, food, and clothing. If you deploy, there is a special savings vehicle offered by the Treasury called the Savings Deposit Program (SDP). The SDP offers you a federally guaranteed 10% return on your money while you’re deployed and up to 90 days after you return.
There are different branches for different kinds of people. These branches are Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy. The Air Force is the nation's armed services that conducts military operations in the air. The Army is an organized military force equipped for fighting on land.
