A symbol of hope and prosperity, the United States has expressed its dominance around the world through many ways. Being a superpower means that the country wields enough military, political, and economic influence, holding enough power to influence how society progresses. (http://time.com/3899972/us-superpower-status-military/) This responsibility is important in today’s society due to the world today revolving around power, resulting in the United States relying on its competitiveness to drive its success, due to other countries wanting this role in society as well. Regarding the industry of military technology, it is an established fact that “The country’s armed forces have been so well resourced and so technologically superior that it would be utterly foolish for any state to mount a direct challenge to the superpower or its allies.” (https://www.economist.com/news/international/21654066-military-playing-field-more-even-it-has-been-many-years-big). These issues include the fact that the industry is so technologically and mentally advanced, that it is hard to recruit younger members with enough experience, resulting in the workforce being comparatively made up of older generations (https://www.iqs.com/top-five-issues-facing-aerospace-and-defense/). In fact, about 18 percent of the workforce is eligible for retirement in the next 2 years (https://www.iqs.com/top-five-issues-facing-aerospace-and-defense/). Elders may be faced with natural health issues that arise with age, making younger workers work extra hard to produce enough product so that this industry doesn’t fall. In addition to the aging workforce, the US government is decreasing its interest in this industry and focusing on other matters such as healthcare and insurance, due to this industry making more profit commercially than from the actual companies.
