magine this, You are either a student or parent of a student, that has straight A's and excels in their classes. The principal calls you to his office to discuss taking high school and/or college- level classes in the 7th grade. What would your answer be? Would you say it's too early for the rigor of education, or would you say that your child is ready for that level of education? If students feel that they are comfortable enough to advance to the next level, they should be entitled to do so. Due to the rigor of college, such as long essays, studying skills, and proper time management, students should start preparing for college early, even in middle school.

However, would it be a good choice to be different and accept going to college in an earlier age instead of attending to a normal high school? Of course this has been greatly disputed; due to the fact that many students have a hard time deciding which option is more convenient and would actually lead them to accomplish their goals. Even though there are many early college schools that would offer an Associate’s degree without having to pay anything, there is people that would prefer to pay their career by themselves and have a normal life as most high scholars do without having to worry that much. Of course that going earlier to college would be challenging but it can bring students better opportunities in life, and also help them mature more rapidly so they could be able to understand what life is in reality.
Students may think it’s unfair for some to go to college early and others stay behind, but this could actually separate the students who put in the work and effort to have this opportunity. If able, students should be able to start their lives early at a younger age because it brings about a greater experience. Starting their lives younger could be a great thing to go ahead and make their mistakes that every college student usually
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, some 20.5 million students are expected to attend American colleges and universities, constituting an increase of about 5.2 million since fall 2000. In addition to this increase of incoming college students, the constant question of “why” does as well. You have one side that says yes! They believe that college is the answer to America’s problems, while the other hand, says that college is not necessarily the answer. Although both of these sides seem to be on the opposite spectrum of everything; they both agree on a few common themes. Today’s Mississippi high school students are severely under prepared for the transition to college. Some can argue that many kids are educated too early, students start school too early, individuals enter the workforce too early, and retirement starts early. Nonetheless, getting ready to start a number of these activities is not necessarily a bad thing. Getting into college and acquiring certain skills in preparation starts way before high school. Many students acquire their core knowledge from kindergarten to eighth grade and if they are well off due to how much knowledge they took in, they are usually ready to take on the challenge of preparing for college (Murray 237). The foundation that core knowledge was built on needs to devote most of its time and resources to providing increased support for students and teachers in the early grades. Efforts are mostly needed in that field because there is hope that students can become more engaged if they get the amount of attention they need and teachers would need to work with them only if they are given back what they deserve. There is a lot to learn which is why teachers should not be afraid of giving the students extra review on topics they previously learned outside of the class. Certainly, with review more students will confident about what they have learned and find academic achievement. It especially takes time for a student to feel academic achievement if they have already planned on not attending college due to how they felt about grade
In recent discussions of education, a controversial issue has been whether or not to go to college after high school. On the one hand, some argue that starting your career after high school is the smart thing to do. On the other hand, however, others argue that the smarter decision would be to continue your schooling by going to college to get a degree. In sum, then, the issue is whether or not college is the right decision for you. My own view is that you should go to college because it helps you build character, start a tradition, and gives you experience.
Caroline Bird writes the statement in her 1975 article “The Case Against College (Bird 15-18)” that not every high school graduate is ready to attend college. It is 2010 and this article is still valid today. Some of the college students I have been around were not mature enough for obedience school let alone college. A few of the points she makes in the article are: College has never worked its magic for everyone. Does it make you a better person? Are colleges responsible for your children? Are my children living in a country club? I will use some of my own experiences as an example of college life, as well as examples from my daughter’s college experience, along with my nephews as well. The debate on whether or not students should attend college after achieving a high school degree is one that many would like to consider two-sided; Debra Humphreys says that “going to college is clearly better than not going,” but Claire Potter mentions the opposite side, quoting an unnamed professor who says that “the vast majority of people who end up in our community college system don’t belong in college at all.” I would argue that the issue is not two-sided, and that there are more complexities to the issue than are always printed in media; to say that all college students should go to college or that all should not attempt to place a variety of different cases into a single group. Perhaps a better option is to say that college (in the traditional sense, with boarding and special liberal arts programs) should be recognized as an option for students immediately after their high school graduation, but other options, including the choice to go to vocational school or entrance straight into the workforce, should be considered.
When I was in sixth grade, I remember in my computer class we had to research what we wanted to do after we graduated. I’ll be honest, I thought that I wanted to be a fashion designer, a designer! I didn’t realize that what I was researching, was what I wanted my future career to be. The more I researched cosmetology, the more I thought I was going to enjoy the career. So my eighth grade year, I discovered make-up. I then started to do more research and it turns out that by just looking more into that career path makes me want to become someone that can help anyone feel beautiful. When I began my senior year, the number one thing which people asked me was where I was going to college. Whether they actually knew me or not, that would be the first thing they asked once they found out I was in the final stretch of my high school career. Now, I obviously had a pre-planned answer for them, since I had answered the question so many times, but I always found it to be peculiar that people didn’t actually care at all about what I was going to do with my life; they just wanted to know where I was going to get my expensive piece of paper from.

Just because a high school student reaches the age of 18, obtains a high school diploma, and has functional literacy, does that really make students college ready?
A very important part of life is education. In order to acquire a satisfying education, one should complete high school prior to college. College and high school have two different levels of education, but both are trying to further student’s knowledge. As recent high school graduates and college freshman’s many can clarify similarities and differences between the two. Some obvious similarities are that both have assignments, classrooms, and students. The truth of the matter is college isn’t for everyone; many go to college with the fight of not wanting to become another statistic, or to follow their dreams. Others attend college because it’s forced upon them by their parents, and then those who waste time and money going to school just to say they’ve been. Many may dream about or see college in their future, but some cannot reach a college learning level and have many obstacles to overcome before attending; whether it’s a financial or culture difference reason the good thing about success is it doesn’t come in one shape or form, that’s why they are alternatives to educating oneself and achieving success.
It is often said, that high school, prepares a student for college. For certain, a student is being prepared, but only for what the world has to offer, and that is making choices on what to pursue. Certainly, most people would concur with this statement. But, the fact to consider is, that high school does not prepare a student for the major difference in the challenge.
