Students love to play sports, but everyone knows the sacrifices put into every athlete. Winning the game is not enough for the student athlete. They have to be the best. They risk their grades dropping and failing the class. Sports can take up most of their social time and the kids don't have time for anything else. Not to mention the chance of an injury that comes with playing the sport. Therefore, sports should not be allowed because student athletes risk more to be the best player. Needless to say, student athletes have a higher risk of being injured or hurt while playing a sport. Likewise, high schoolers are more likely to get injured than younger student athletes, and college players have even a higher risk than high schoolers. Additionally, the bodies of teenagers are not completely done growing so, the ankle, foot, and lower leg have a higher risk at being injured in high school and college. One reason athletes are being injured, is because the rules of the game are ignored and the equipment needed is not available or not up to date. Even the parents ask "Are competitive sports worth the time and money?" Not all parents want to sit and watch their child play their sport every weekend or almost every night of the week. For the players to be in the game, they must know the techniques and the plays of the game. Players practice and practice to have their techniques perfect. As a result, this leaves no time to socialize with their friends who don't play the sport. In order to stay in shape for the sport, coaches almost always expect the players to continue to play off season. There are coaches who have open gyms off season, who push the kids to attend to grow as an athlete.
