Imagine someone putting all their time and effort into a sport just to figure out someone is doing better than them because they cheated. Athletes work daily putting in as much effort as they can but some take the easy way and use PED’s. It is unfair to those athletes that actually try at the sport.
First off it is unfair to other athletes that work hard for someone to cheat and use PED’s. Athletes do not think it is fair considering how much hard work they put into the sport they play. Some athletes put in a lot of work and dedication to the game and if someone cheats it is unfair to the athletes that actually try. People also wouldn't be able to compare two athletes. They wouldn't be able to tell if one athlete is better than another athlete if one of them uses PED’s. If 2 athletes were being compared the one using PED’s would most likely be better and it is unfair to the person who puts in the work to be good at the sport they play. Not only would it be unfair to the players but it would be unfair to other teams. If one team had multiple players using PED’s it would be unfair to the team going against them because they would lose almost every time.

If a team was very dominant for using PED’s everyone would know what team is going to win every time. There could be a dominant team that use PED’s and other teams don't so it would be boring to see the same team win every time and it would be boring for the people watching the sport. If every team uses PED’s it would also be very boring because it would all be the same. And doing difficult tasks wouldn't be as difficult. Everything wouldn't be as entertaining for the sports because if everything was so easy for
In the world we live in today, some college athletes take certain substances to boost their physical body in hopes of taking their game to the next level. These substances are labeled as PED’s. PED’s is an acronym for performance enhancing drugs which to this day are illegal for not only college athletes but professional athletes as well. An athletes’ usage of performance enhancing drugs can affect many people. For example, we know that enhancing drugs will affect the athlete using them but the usage of PED’s can also effect the athlete’s teammates as well as the coaching staff. Failing a drug test due to performance enhancing drugs can result in a loss of a full year of eligibility with the first offense (Disalvo). Failing a second time can
The role of PEDs (performance enhancing drugs) in world of sports has been the center of much controversy and debate dating back to the beginning of the Olympics, that has captured a considerable amount of attention within the past century. The revelation of PED use by star athletes has been a repeating occurrence in the world of professional sports. These allegations quickly turn legacies into scandals, for what one person once stood for throughout their career is now quickly overshadowed by the insert of a needle. The question then is, what if they were made legal? what would the reaction be and how would it change each respective league if PEDs were now allowed on the playing field? The use of these supplements has found its place in sports in a very timely and real matter, with many in opposition towards the use because of the growing concerns surrounding them, health and morally. In a closer examination of the purpose of professional sports, it is clear that the use of PEDs only bolster its purpose: allowing professional athletes to push to reach the peak of human perfection resulting in increased performance and success in sports from an entertainment perspective.
There are many downfalls to PED use in baseball. Physically enhancing drugs can deteriorate your body and doing permanent damage to themselves and their reputation as a player. PED use ruins the enjoyment of the game for viewers because it isn’t fair for those who
Isn't it amazing how one little controversial question can cause so much drama? Take the NCAA for instance. Within recent years the question of weather NCAA athletes should be paid or not has arisen and caused them some unwanted attention. Many coaches and sports enthusiast have been interviewed on their opinion. “Students are not professional athletes who are paid salaries and incentives for a career in sports. They are students receiving access to a college education through their participation in sports, for which they earn scholarships to pay tuition, fees, room and board, and other allowable expenses,” (Mitchell). “There has been major discussion recently if college athletes should or shouldn't be paid while they are in school. The first thing opponents say is, "They're already getting a scholarship! That is more than anybody else! Don't be greedy!”(Hartnett). These are just two men’s opinions, but no one needs to give his or her opinion any longer. The answer to this question is unmistakably clear. NCAA athletes do not need to be paid because they get to go to college for free, their living expenses are paid for, and there would not be a fair way to choose which teams are paid and which are not.
Performance Enhancing Drugs should not be allowed in sports. PEDs are a form of cheating. Not only are they cheating, but they can harm the athlete's body too. There are many long-term health risks we don't even know about! Finally, PED’s make the game unfair because the kids with natural talent are not able to showcase their great skills.
Furthermore, performance enhancing drugs are illegal and must remain this way in order to keep fairness in the competitive world of sports.
How would you like to be paid 6.4 million just to play a game of college basketball? It is worth considering that college basketball players don’t get paid at all for working in games even at practice. Athletes should get paid for playing because they need to support their families, stay in school longer, and they will even play differently, students need to be able to support their families, secondly they would need to donate money to the program if they want to keep it going. While Basketball and Football tend to bring the most revenue, other programs tend to make money while some don’t at all. The NCAA has a regulation that is intended that they should limit training to 20 hours per week.
Many Athletes are willing to do whatever it takes to become a professional. One of the easiest ways to enhance natural ability is through performance-enhancing drugs or, PEDs. PEDs are substances used by athletes to increase their performance. The use of PEDs in athletic competition can date back to ancient Greece. Athletes use PEDs to run faster, jump higher and recover at an increased pace. Many athletes are pressured into using PEDs by coaches or managers and are not thoroughly educated the harmful health issues that can come along with taking performance-enhancing drugs. A rising issue is if performance-enhancing drugs should be allowed in professional sports. I believe that in any professional sport, the use of performance-enhancing drugs by athletes should continue to be banned because this rule will help to keep athletes from abusing these harmful drugs.
If the addition of Peds were there it would make the game less fun in fact because you could imagine a game were one guy took PED and the rest didn’t
...t these drugs are catastrophic and cause so many diseases and sicknesses that should not happen to an athlete. Athletes will be looked at as superheroes and children would not want to idolize a player that got to where he is because he did drugs. A child wants to look up to a player that beat the odds and worked harder than everyone else. If Performance Enhancing Drugs were legalized and allowed in all professional sports, there would be a lot of deaths, and player that have diseases caused by the drugs they took. Also High school and college players would begin to take it because they would feel like that is the only way to get to the pros. And lastly players would hurt themselves and their teammates and fellow players. PED’s have a lot of potential but not yet. There are too many health defects and we do not want our “heroes” to die from a disease caused by drugs.
In the 2004 Athens Olympics, there was the most PEDs violations. A roaring amount of twenty six athlete were caught with the PEDs in their systems. Six of these athletes were medalist and two were gold medalist(Allen). FInally, steroids have been brought to fans eyes and they believe that the PEDs have took the game from their natural athleticism and made the game unfair. The games are all played for the fans entertainment and why would fans want to watch an unfair game.
PED are both harmful and unfair when it comes to being a professional and based on usage have a long term effect on the user. The use of performance enhancing drugs
Many people believe that drug use in professional athletics is not a serious problem, however it is more widespread and serious than people think. In professional athletics the use of drugs is looked upon as somewhat of a serious problem, but is also very discrete and low key. Every once in a while one might see a prominent figure in a certain sport being reprimanded for the use of some outlawed drug, however this is just one of the many who happened to get caught. Athletes today seem to find no moral problem with using performance-enhancing drugs, or in other words cheating. Also many of them feel that because they are "stars" there should be no repercussions for their illegal activity.
First, when athletes cheat, they are not pushing themselves to achieve success. Cheating also affects the culprit physically, mentally, and emotionally. Doctor Yesalis, a prominent Professor of Health at Pennsylvania State University, states, "You do not need drugs to have a sense of fulfillment, to feel that you've left it all on the field," Yesalis says. "[Drugs have] taken something that God has given us—love of game and sport—and perverted us" (par. 3). Allowing drugs in sports will not prove who is better at the sport we will just see who is the biggest drug user. This is a great integrity check for the individual because it proves who is true to their profession. This also tests their intestinal fortitude to see if they will be man or women enough to do the correct thing.
