I don’t think so. GMO is very advanced technology, gene technology is the direction of human development. We don’t need to eat GMO, but we can use it. GM cotton is a very good example. We wear cotton, and we use cotton, but we never eat cotton. The risk of GM cotton is very low, so we should develop this technology. The proposed legislation would mandate all foods that contain genetically modified organisms, also know as GMOs, to display a warning label on their packaging. He argues that this would be detrimental to the good name of these types of foods when they do not deserve to be shamed. I agree that the genetically engineered crops should not be labeled, but not because that would tarnish their name. If less people buy GMO products it will go out of business. Then when they go out of business old traditional farming will come back. Another possible way to stop GMO is to start campaigns. Genetically modified food’s, or GMOs, goal is to feed the world's malnourished and undernourished population. Exploring the positive side to GMOs paints a wondrous picture for our planet’s future, although careful steps must be taken to ensure that destruction of our ecosystems do not occur. When GMOs were first introduced into the consumer market they claimed that they would help eliminate the world’s food crisis by providing plants that produced more and were resistant to elemental impacts like droughts and bacterial contaminants, however, production isn’t the only cause for the world’s food crisis. Which is a cause for concern because the population on the earth is growing and our land and ways of agriculture will not be enough to feed everyone sufficiently. No simple solutions can be found or applied when there are so many lives involved. Those who are hungry and those who are over fed, alike, have to consider the consequences of Genetically Modified Organisms. Food should not be treated like a commodity it is a human necessity on the most basic of levels. When egos, hidden agendas, and personal gains are folded into people's food sources no one wins. They are in most of the foods you eat, and you don’t even know it. There have been groups who have pushed the issue of putting GMO labels on the products that we buy, but somehow that situation has been avoided. The negative effects of GMOs can be seen in results of studies done on animals and humans. The studies on animals show organ damage, gastrointestinal and immune system disorders, accelerated aging, and infertility. In humans they saw that the GMOs stayed in their systems for very long periods of time which made new bacteria’s grow and the toxic insectides that GMOs like corn produce were not able to exit the body quickly.
Genetically modified foods are developed by combining genes from two different organisms which alters it's DNA and do not occur naturally. Biotechnology is relatively new so like most people, I turned to research to argue this issue with facts. In my opinion, genetically modifying foods have more harmful effects than they do beneficial. I am against their use because it creates safety risks for our health and animals, it can damage the environment and we have to deal with the total costs.

GM foods are correlated with the decline in mammal and bird health and the introduction of GM animals like salmon poses a threat to the ecosystem of wild fish. GMOs can also bear consequences in terms of genetic pollution and alteration through contamination and mutation to adaptation to evolution to species extinction. Indeed, some claims are not well supported and may require testing, like genetic alteration through consumption or the validity of correlating animal health deficits with GM feeds. However, overall, GM foods clearly affect the world negatively in terms of biodiversity and ecosystem impacts.
