Cancel Court Argumentative Essay: Draymond Green SHOULD be canceled. Draymond Green is a very well-known basketball player known for his drama and typically has so much controversy around his name. He is a very good player and has four championship rings that contributed to the win of the Golden State Warriors for all those championships. There are some reasons why he is still on the court playing basketball, but the cons outweigh the pros. Draymond Green needs to be canceled because he does not have a good presence on the court and he is way too petty for the sport of basketball. His pettiness is getting out of hand and the the way he carries himself on the court is not professional at all. Draymond Green does not have a presence on the court. He is an amazing player but that does not disregard his actions and how he goes about playing. Draymond Green can not escape being canceled because he has done too much and said too much. Draymond does not know right or wrong, which is unbelievable because he is a grown man. Let's cancel Draymond and bring back the sportsmanship, or at least a decent script! He does not know right or wrong as a grown man, it is an unwritten rule that you can not punch another dude in his
I agree with some of Barbara Kingsolver’s statement, but not all of it. I agree when she says traditional families are for the most part are stable and show successful relationships to their children. However, I do not agree when she says the traditional Barbie and Ken households are never disassembled by divorce. I also do not agree when Kingsolver said the divorce people, gay families, Brady Bunch families, and single parent households result in failures for children.
Even though athletes get special treatment they never think about how them getting off easy can back fire. The Ray Rice case is a prime example of how it was a downfall in their career. Rice got released from the Baltimore ravens and since then he has not play football. The NFL suspended him indefinitely, but it was later lifted because he did not lie to the commissioner about the domestic violence case. He was free to play again, but no team signed him because it was going to come with a ton of backlash and no team wanted to deal with that because it would have been a distraction to the team. Also, many people lost respect for Rice for putting his hands on a women. No one would look at him the same anymore. He has yet to sign with any team since the incident took
Ethical Rules on Sport’s Justice. Dallas: East Dallas Times, page 21. 2008. The 'Standard' of the 'Standard'. Print: Harry, Patrick Hayes.
This research paper will determine whether professional athletes deserve a second chance to play in professional sports after inappropriate behaviors. Professional athletes are considered idols and are often held to higher standards. Society has become concerned with so many of today’s athletes making the evening news for their unsuitable behaviors.
However, the NBA example fails to make even this point. To see why, imagine that you have been asked to preside as a judge at a track-and-field event.
It was then argued that it was not the league’s right to suspend the basketball player even if his opinion was offensive to others, but he still had the religious freedom to express his opinions as stated in the American constitution.... ... middle of paper ... ... This could be argued by the simple fact that the legal system (despite being a supposedly emotionless system), is in fact, based highly on emotion.
On April 24th 2014, the entertainment television channel TMZ released an audio record of a conversation between Donald Sterling, the owner of the professional basketball team Los Angeles Clippers, and his girlfriend. In the conversation, Sterling expressed his extreme racism towards the African Americans. He specifically told his girlfriend, “You can sleep with [black people]. You can bring them in, you can do whatever you want. The little I ask you is not to promote it on that… and not to bring them to my games.” Sterling’s recorded conversation immediately invoked a series of protesting reactions from a great deal of public figures within and outside the basketball field. Five days after the recording tape was released, on April 30th 2014, Adam Silver, the NBA commissioner, announced that Sterling would be banned from NBA games for life, and most likely would be forced to sell the Clippers. Silver stated, “We stand together in condemning Mr. Sterling’s views. They simply have no place in the NBA.”
Small, tall, big, or strong, everyone loves basketball and the excitement that it has brought to people over this long period of time. NBA League originated on August 3, 1949. In 2006, one rule was established and high school basketball players had to sit out a year or attend different colleges or universities to be in shape for the next year to enter the draft. Many amazing and even best players such as Dwight Howard, Lebron James, and even Kobe Bryant. This leads us to a question, if we really need one and done rule when obviously we can see that high school basketball players have the skill to compete on that level.
This is the type of action African American professional athletes should be doing to try to equal the respect they get in the court to the respect a black individual should have in the street.
It is clear that I am not the only one that believes so. A majority of NBA team owners voted in agreement for Adam Silver’s punishments and players across the league were satisfied as well. Banning him from the NBA may sound a bit too much, but in an era where racism in sports has not been an issue for decades, it is extremely disrespectful to bring a debacle like this back to the surface. Expressing ones opinion is allowed and there is nothing legally wrong with it, but what Sterling said is something that is not acceptable in today’s society, which is why the penalties were all, justified. Two of the four ethical frameworks, Utilitarianism and Ethical Realism both contribute to this understanding. The NBA made their decision for the greater good given the number of people involved. The choice was to either punish one man for his wrongdoing, or allow thousands of people across the country to question the integrity of the National Basketball Association. They also practiced choosing the lesser of two evils where the reprimand given was a bit exaggerated but necessary considering the alternative. Overall, the banning of Donald Sterling by the NBA, commissioner Adam Silver, team owners, and the players, was an ethically suitable price to pay for such callous
should be treated differently. The Country Club was not justified in denying Dondre Green the
Lebron is a positive role model because of how he voices his opinions on social issues. Lebron feels a need to voice his opinions on social issues to show people it is not bad to speak your mind no matter if it is accepted or not. Such as when Lebron wore a “I Can’t Breathe” t-shirt during warmups (Scott). During the 2014 year a man named Eric Garner was choked to death by a police officer. LeBron being the kind of person responded not in words but in action. He along with other wore these T-Shirts to speak against police brutality. Another time Lebron made his opinions known was when he and other spoke out against the racial injustice that exists today (Grossman). He put on a speech on national television. It was not to berate anyone or group but was to inspire change in relations between people and law enforcement. He made it known that Black were target of this kind of crimes more than whites and brought that knowledge to the public stage. It was
Put fans in your own shoes, a person would not want to injure there own star player, you'd rather push a visiting fan out of the way to catch up to your star player. The analyst is completely right it's not the safety of the home team necessarily but the visiting team that is the concern - this in result makes the security look bad because they could not prevent one home fan from completely bull rushing a visiting player. In conclusion, storming the court looks terrible on the security
As a result, Adam Silver, commissioner of the NBA, banned Donald Sterling for life. Sterling could not attend nor participate in any NBA related activities, and he was forced to sell his franchise.... ... middle of paper ... ...
