It was a cold and rainy night at Calvary Cemetery in Queens, New York. Ryan, who is 32 years old, is visiting his mom for the first time since she died two months ago. He was nervous because it was at night but he needed to see her, since it was her birthday. He also really missed her, because when he was a kid she did everything for him. He was almost there when he kept hearing banging and didn't know where it was coming from. Ryan kept driving just thinking someone was having a party, but as he got closer and closer to the Cemetery, it got louder and louder. Once he got there, he went straight to his mother's grave because it was late, and he wanted to get home fast. The exact second he got out of his car going to his mother's grave, he heard someone say “Ryannnnn come here.” It was coming from the same spot where the banging was. He decided after he visited his moms grave, to go see what was going on. He went to the house where it was which was right outside the cemetery, and on the front door it said “Door is unlocked, come in the basement.” He …show more content…
She wasn't sure what happened to him but she wanted to look everywhere she thought he was. It was the next day at 7:00 am and she was on her way to the cemetery. While she was on her way there, she kept hearing noises, the same noises that he had heard. First, she went to his husbands moms grave because that's the first place that maybe he was there praying but she had no idea. Once she got there and saw no one was there and she got even more worried. She then heard someone say “I have your husband.” She heard it from a house near by. She sprinted to the house and broke open the door and sprinted down the stairs in the pitch black. Once she got down the stairs, she also fell down the trap. When she got down there she saw the same man that her husband had
In the short story “Max” by Ron Carlson introduces the main character of the story Max, which is the pet of the Narrator and Cody, who are the owners of the dog. The intelligent , and strong nosed dog doesn’t seem like an well trained dog, but he knows his owner well enough to know how he feels about other people and their presence. Max is know as a crotch dog, a dog that sniffs and poke people’s crotch very swiftly and shapely. It may seem if though the dog isn 't well trained and doesn 't have proper manners, because of the fact that Max will sniff any stranger 's crotch rudely and aggressively. “He can ruin a cocktail party faster than running out of ice”, this isn 't a good and acceptable behavior that a well trained dog would do in this
In the midst of one of the busiest cities in the world there lies a sanctuary. There lies an area where all men are equal, where poverty is non-existent, where all men are united under two things; the first being death and the second being America. Arlington National Cemetery is a tribute to all of the fallen heroes, the patriots, the soldiers, the pioneers, all who have cried American tears. I have been forever changed since visiting Arlington National Cemetery and it is a visit that every American should make.
Grandview Cemetery is located on 1528 Leeds Ave. Monessen, PA in Westmoreland County and is owned/run by The Epiphany of Our Lord Church (Grandview Cemetery). The Epiphany Church used to be called St. Cajetan’s and the it is unclear exactly when the parish was founded thus it is not clear when the cemetery was first created either. The best guess that can be made is that it was founded in the late 1800s or the early days of the 1900s. Although it is unclear when the cemetery was established it is still in use today and has a lot more diversity in the Catholic lineages it has taken in since it was conceived. This development occurred in when the original five Catholic Churches with Monessen where formed into one

She stepped of the porch into the house to help the movers by telling them where she wanted the furniture to go. When she stepped into the kitchen she stopped in fright, out of the corner of her eye she swore she saw a human shaped shadow. When she looked over it was gone and a trash can stood in its place. She got her self together walked to the car and grabbed the box full of china that her grandma gave to her on her 16th birthday. She walked across the dining room and sat the box on the table. As she was pulling a teacup out there was a knock at the door. She put down the cup and maneuvered around the movers and and was greeted by a man dressed in a red dress shirt black pants, and fire red hair. he looked at her with a sinister smirk and said “welcome to the neighbourhood”. As she was about to say thank you she dropped her key, when she picked it up he had disappeared.
It was late I thought. Almost midnight yet I was still unable to sleep. I stared thoughtlessly at the moving shadows mumbling to myself, "it was just a story" but in my heart I knew it wasn't, it was more than a story, much, much more. Then, a crow appeared in the middle of my room. The crow stared at me with such intensity that I fell backwards into the safety of my pillow. I stared at the crow in shock as it disappeared into my closet and that's when I heard it, a long piercing whine that was like a nail to a chalkboard. I prayed that it would go away, I prayed with all my heart but it stayed there continuing its long whine. It was then when I caught a glimpse of it. I saw two glowing bloodshot eyes stare at me. I let out a scream born from terror and almost immediately my dad came bursting into my room. He stared at me with confusion but all I could do was point a shaking finger at my closet door. Cautiously, my father marched into the closet door only to find nothing inside. Then, without warning, the closet door slammed shut along with my father still inside.
I can see a crack of light coming from under the bathroom door. I keep hearing a strange sound, almost like a hurt puppy. As I walk closer, I see a dark puddle on the floor. Suddenly, I am very afraid. I slowly open the door. “Mommy, Mommy, are you ok?” My mother looked at me and cried, “Dial 911, Darling! Hurry, Honey, Hurry!” There is so much blood—on the floor, on her clothes, and on her hands. I can hear the sirens now. Mommy goes for a ride in the ambulance. My three day old baby brother and I have to stay with the neighbor until Daddy comes and picks us up. What happened to my mother?
I thought I was going to leave empty handed until I spotted the stack of boxes in the far left corner. There was a small wooden box on the top labeled David Walker with black sharpie. This is it. I thought. I sprinted out of the attic holding the box in one hand and the ladder in the other. Out of breath, I plopped down onto my bed, sitting with my legs crossed and the box out in front of me. Answers… Please give me answers. I thought as I opened the box. Inside held a picture of a man with dark skin and short black hair. I assumed this was my father. In his arms was my mother. They were both smiling uncontrollably as if it was the best day of their lives. What went wrong… I thought. Underneath was a black journal, tied shut with a thick string. I lifted it out of the box, untied the string, and began to read the
A local cemetery in southeast Huntsville, Alabama known as Maple Hill Cemetery is the oldest and largest burial ground in the South. Maple Hill Cemetery was established in 1822 after two acres of land were bought from the Leroy Pope. Pope was a very well-known settler, American planter and lawyer in the 19th century. After his passing, he was one of the first to be buried in this cemetery. The graveyard now covers over 76 acres of land (about 58 football fields) and a location where many historical homes are still standing. Along with the homes, there are politicians and other famous individuals buried here in the space of 80,000 to 100,000 graves. The Huntsville Pilgrimage Association now holds an annual Maple Hill Cemetery Stroll
It was a Monday night; I remember it like it was yesterday. I had just completed my review of Office Administration in preparation for my final exams. As part of my leisure time, I decided to watch my favorite reality television show, “I love New York,” when the telephone rang. I immediately felt my stomach dropped. The feeling was similar to watching a horror movie reaching its climax. The intensity was swirling in my stomach as if it were the home for the butterflies. My hands began to sweat and I got very nervous. I could not figure out for the life of me why these feelings came around. I lay there on the couch, confused and still, while the rings continued. My dearest mother decided to answer this eerie phone call. As she picked up, I sat straight up. I muted the television in hopes of hearing what the conversation. At approximately three minutes later, the telephone fell from my mother’s hands with her faced drowned in the waves of water coming from her eyes. She cried “Why?” My Grandmother had just died.

The Declaration of Independence contains a snippet about the equality of men; a topic interesting to 18th century authors. The speakers in Gray’s “Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard” and in Goldsmith’s “The Deserted Village” utilize the themes of death and isolation in order to represent the different social classes. Goldsmith’s speaker idealizes and mourns the decay of rural life, while Gray’s speaker equalizes the different classes. . This essay examines the difference between these two depictions and shows how Gray’s use of stylistic features creates a more convincing argument.
