Olympic champion, but she has accomplished much more than just this. Shawn
Johnson is a gymnast, a college student, and a Dancing With The Stars champion.
Shawn Johnson was born on January 19, 1992 she is now 24 years old. She was
born in Des Moines, Iowa and grew up there. She grew up with only I sibling her very
supportive sister. Shawn Johnson started gymnastics in 1995, she loved gymnastics
right from the start. Her parents put her in gymnastics because she was always
constantly so energetic, and jumping around all the time. Shawn Johnson always
worked super hard in gymnastics right from the start.
Shawn Johnson was a hard working
gymnast. It took Shawn Johnson a long time to get the level gymnast she became. She was a level senior gymnast. The gymnastics program Shawn Johnson was in the Women's Artistic and Dance Institute but she didn't really dance all that much she mostly worked on her gymnastics. The club that Shawn Johnson worked in was the Laing Chow’s Gymnastics group. Laing chow was Shawn Johnson’s main coach. Aside from gymnastics Shawn Johnson has been very busy and has made many more achievements. One of those many achievements were writing a book. This book of hers was “Winning Balance.” This book has won the New York Times Best Selling Book. Shawn Johnson has also not only won the Olympics but has also won Dancing With The Stars on the 8th season. She's won the 2008 Olympics for her very well done beam routine. This took place in Beijing, China. Shawn Johnson had some bumps in her career. One of those bumps a knee injury. This injury caused her to be in a brace for six weeks. She also couldn't do any sort of training during the six months after her surgery. This injury happened in 2010. Shawn Johnson was on her family vacation when the injury happened. It was also on her 18th birthday. She had her knee surgery when she got back on February 16th. What scared the most was not the injury but the chance she might not get to return to doing what she loves gymnastics. Shawn Johnson’s current life is pretty full and busy. Shawn Johnson is currently engaged to Andrew East. They are getting married in just one week. She is also a college student. She goes to college in Vanderbilt. Her college is in Nashville where she is living. She is only a freshman in college. She does a lot online courses because she isn't a full time student, but she plans to become a full time student this coming fall.she’s studying dietetics and also sports psychology. Another she wants to do is run marathon. She wants to do this because she has always loved to run. She also wants to do this because it is for a good cause. Shawn Johnson did not get all this handed to she had to work really hard for it. Getting her medals and her book published was a lot of work and did not come easy. Shawn Johnson has a really busy life but keeps up well with it. She works really hard every day to be where she is today.
