Shame can be an excellent tool to motivate a person to readjust their unacceptable behavior. It can also be painful as well as humiliating when others are unsympathetic. One can be shamed by their appearance, the way a person conducts their self in a public setting, or even stating their opinion. It seems that today there is an increase in being shamed by others due to a boost in social media usage. Within minutes of sharing a post online, that post can travel to thousands of different people. Shame can be both beneficial as well as harmful. When used correctly, many people can learn valuable lessons from being shamed for their ill behavior. Use shame the wrong way or maliciously, people can suffer emotionally and mentally.

Simply go to the grocery store. There you’ll witness the disastrous outfits people choose to wear. Pajama and yoga pants seem to be the biggest fad. Quite honestly, it looks as if they were too lazy to get dressed. Not only are sleeping clothes as well as work out pants unsightly, but people tend to wear things that are several times smaller than the size they require. Today people should be ashamed of the way they dress when going out. This type of shaming can be beneficial because it could potentially allow the person to understand the need to dress more appropriately. As a result of dressing more appropriately, they’ll be more respected as well as taken more seriously. Shaming someone based on their appearance can also be negative. It seems that more moms are being shamed because of how they feed their children, how they discipline their children, and even how they dress their children. If a mother formula feeds her baby, she may be ridiculed for the decision. More people claim formula feeding isn’t nourishing for a child and that it’s lazy. Also, the topic of disciplining children is touchy as well. Some say children need spankings, yet others say it’s abuse. It’s hard to satisfy anyone anymore. This type of shame can make a new mother feel like a failure and cause her to lack confidence. There are parents who could use some shaming. Those who don’t properly take care of their children ought to be ashamed of that. That includes making sure their clothes are washed, helping them to maintain daily hygiene, doing their homework, and investing time in their lives. Not only should parents you don’t provide proper living conditions and discipline, parents who choose to have nothing to do with their child should be shamed as well. It’s so important to be present in a child’s life. Shame on those who aren’t.
Ultimately, shame can be a positive learning experience. It also can be hurtful and unpleasant to feel. Shame must be used correctly to achieve positive goals. However, we must also be sure that others are not shamed based off situations that can’t be controlled. Having shame for our actions can cause people to act
