Do you believe that it is ethical for agencies, institutions, or organizations to try to change people’s sexual orientation through means of punishment or suppression? Why? In what ways have institutions and organizations done this? Give examples.

ANS:

I believed it all depends on the geographical location and culture of the people and the institution or agencies. In certain countries, their culture abhor certain sexual orientation likewise certain agencies so therefore if the people in this jurisdiction all share the same culture against i.e. homosexuality then so be it if the it oppressed. Yes I am a Christian and the bible abhors as well as my culture. But I feel like why some should be interested in one’s sexual orientation if it’s doesn’t infringe on anyone right.

Certain institution especially religious bodies excommunicate members of some sexual orientation. Other cultures go to the extent of lynching people who are gays and lesbians just to suppress them. Also people in certain culture are given drugs just to suppress their sexual orientation.

Do you believe sexual orientation is an issue that we, as a society, should be involved in? Assuming that there is no abuse (e.g., child abuse, animal abuse, rape and violence, etc.) present in your bedroom, would you want society to tell you the gender of the person that you are allowed to have sex with? Why or why not?

ANS: Well looking at how people or certain societies going about sexual orientation issues it high time we involve ourselves in orienting societies about the right of individuals and their sexualities. Though you might not agree or conform to certain sexual orientation, it also doesn’t allow you to infringe on people who conform to
