I want to start by thanking my parents for raising me with morals, a strong faith in the Catholic Church, and core values. My mom and dad have always supported me and guided me in the right direction, while leaving room for me to fail so that I may learn from my actions. Service work is one experience that has had a very positive impact on my life. When I began doing service in grade school, I fell in love with putting a smile on the faces of those in need. Through all of my years of education, I have never been one to disobey the rules. I do not do this in fear of the consequences, but I follow the guidelines of how to act because I know that they are set in place for the wellbeing of everyone. Volleyball has truly formed me into who I am today. Through this sport that I love, I have acquired the drive and desire to become the best that I can be, not just in volleyball, but in all aspects of life. I have absorbed the lessons that I have been taught and the information that I have been presented with. With life’s many blessings, have also come multiple hardships, such as a reconstructive knee surgery and herniated disks. Learning is not simply about retaining information, but it is about understanding life’s challenges, and adjusting to the highs and lows. I have learned to use the dark times as motivation to rise up and accomplish what I have set out to do. Without the setbacks and learning experiences in my life, I would not be able to comprehend the true value of hard work and the reward for never giving up. Through my many years of education and of volleyball, I have become determined to keep pushing myself to get better and to never settle for average.
