Can you imagine living in the Upper East Side of New York City? How about attending a private school with all of Manhattans elite? Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf along with their smart and handsome best friend Nate Archibald know exactly what life is like living in opulent Fifth-Avenue apartments and wearing their luxurious Tiffany and Co. jewelry worth more than most cars. But in the book It had to be you life is far from perfect for these three best friends. Serena and Blair are both in love with their best friend Nate, and Nate doesn’t know whom he wants for sure because he is in love with both of them. All of the Upper East Side drama is shared on a website whose creator is unknown, the website is called “Gossip Girl”. However, …show more content…
the drama doesn’t quite end there. I am questioning whether Blair and Nate’s relationship will stay together forever, or whether he will go for the sassy yet caring Serena van der Woodsen whom any man would be glad to have, and while all this drama is going on, who is the “girl” behind this gossip girl web page? In the book it had to be you Blair and Nate are in a relationship, I am questioning whether they will stay together or whether they will break up. First, I believe that Blair and Nate may stay together. “Nate was right there in front of her. Carpe Diem. Now was her chance to seize the day “ (Ziegesar 182). Blair is giddy every time that she is around Nate, and Blair would like to eventually marry Nate someday. Not only does Blair love Nate, but also both of their parents agree that they belong together and have even discussed Blair and Nate someday getting married. Nate feels that Blair and his relationship seems natural, like they are perfect for each other. “…it wasn’t awkward or tense—it was totally familiar” (Ziegesar 193). The relationship between Blair and Nate could be looked at as “meant to be” but their relationship may also seem too perfect. Blair and Nate may stay together forever like their families dream of, but they may also break up. Blair Waldorf is perfect on the outside, but around many people especially Nate, she seems to adulterate every single situation that occurs. Blair and Nate were discussing what they will do when they cannot see each other for the entire summer, and Blair took it to heart and thought that Nate meant he wanted to break up with her. Nate loves Blair with all his heart and more, but sometimes feels like she may be too much for his laid-back rich boy lifestyle. While they both have a strong fortitude, it may be enough to keep them together but it also may not be enough to keep their relationship thriving. While reading it had to be you Serena van der Woodsen definitely stood out to be one of the main characters with a distinct personality showing both sassiness and a caring heart.
Serena van der Woodsen has shown sassiness all throughout the novel in many different ways, shapes, and forms. “ ‘Hey Deidre, is he, like, in the house? Or is he waiting down in the lobby?’ she asked, hoping the maid could tell the doorman to send chuck away” (Ziegesar 211). Serena always has something sassy to say whether it’s to her best friend or to a random person on the street, she never fails to break out her inner sass. Not only is Serena sassy, but she is also extraordinarily meticulous. One moment in it had to be you where Serena is very meticulous that stands out is when Chuck Bass kisses Serena, and she demands for the truth. Chuck and Blair both love to pull pranks on Serena and many other people, Serena demanded Chuck to tell the truth: “Did Blair but you up to this” (Ziegesar 213)? Not only is Serena meticulous on knowing what’s happening around her, but she is also very meticulous about her lifestyle. Serena van der Woodsen would not be caught dead in anything lesser than Burberry, Lilly Pulitzer, and Nate Archibald, “all five foot eleven inches of his perfect, golden-brown-haired, glittering-green-eyed, fifteen-year-old boyness” (Ziegesar 3). Not only is Serena van der Woodsen sassy, but she is also very …show more content…
meticulous. While all kinds of drama is happening in this novel, an anonymous blogger is the one keeping everyone up to speed with the latest gossip, her name is “Gossip Girl”.
I am wondering who gossip girl is. I believe that gossip girl is either Jenny Humphrey or Blair Waldorf. To start, I think Gossip Girl could be Jenny Humphrey. When Jenny looks at the people around her, she feels like she doesn’t belong. In the story it explains many details about how Jenny wishes she were “one of them”. Gossip Girl could be Jenny’s way of fitting in. Gossip Girl has written badly about Jenny, however this book used the quote “you’re never popular until you’re talked about” so I feel that Jenny took that to heart and decided to become popular the only way she knows how to, which is to gossip about herself. While I think Jenny could be gossip girl, I also believe that Blair Waldorf could be gossip girl. Blair Waldorf is the kind of girl who loves any kind of gossip she can get her hands on. In reality, the nickname “gossip girl” even fits with her personality and motives. If Blair is gossip girl I will not be surprised at all. Blair knows everything that is going on 24/7 and if she doesn’t know the latest gossip then the anonymous tips sent in through the gossip girl website fill in all her gaps. I think that Jenny Humphrey could be gossip girl, and at the same time Blair Waldorf could be gossip
girl. This book holds the juiciest drama you will ever hear about. The question still remains; will Nate Archibald and Blair Waldorf stay together forever like their parents had dreamed about? We could only hope. And as for Serena van der Woodsen, she still remains the sassy yet meticulous person she is. And who is this gossip girl we hear about? That’s one secret she’ll never tell.

When will the day come when parents realize children are not possessions to be manipulated!? Children are people, too, and need guidance - don't we all? - but is it necessary to force our beliefs and practices upon them, demanding they emulate only the lifestyle we lead? It sickens me to see the tragic waste of human life, specifically the lives of children. Going one step further, it sickens me to see parents who lack the common sense that God gave a dog! One can't drive an automobile without passing a test, but any idiot can have a child. It wasn't bad weather that killed Jessica Hathaway. It was the effects of her mother's non-conformist lifestyle and preaching.

Suzanne G. Cusick, who considers herself a speicialist in the life and works of Francesca Caccini, argues that Francesca was a proto-feminist and the music she composed for the Medici court contributed to the career of the Grand Duchess Christine de Lorraine of Tuscany. She therefore claims that through her works, Caccini encourages the sexuality and political aims of women in the early seventeenth century.1
Comments on her physique relate to her race and insinuate “that black women are hyper masculine and unattractive” (Rankine). It can be a difficult moment to endure when people in the same business attack her with comments such as being manly, for example the crude words that president of the Russian Tennis Federation, Shamil Tarpischev, had to say about her. Fortunately, Serena was brought up learning techniques on how to handle these vulgar statements. The article describes her childhood, as she practices tennis and how her father would recruit children to “‘call them every curse word in the English language, including ‘Nigger’” (Rankine). It’s safe to say that children who are not black did not have to endure these degrading moments. Although the technique Serena’s father employed to train his children was harsh, it molded her to have a strong character and not let comments like these have a negative effect on
Over the years, the name Lindsay Lohan has become synonymous with the description “troubled young starlet.” She was first recognized as a budding young actress with promising potential, after the release of her first feature film The Parent Trap. She was only eleven years old in the Disney remake but she turned a lot of people’s heads. From 2002 to 2006, Lindsay stared in a number of films like Freaky Friday, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Mean Girls, Herbie: Fully Loaded, and Just my Luck.
“She was from Pasadena, this six-foot-two marvel of a woman. It was not so much because she was an extraordinary cook- and she would pointedly remind us that she was a cook, not a chef” (Kehoe 1). Julia Child was an extraordinary woman who had a passion for cooking that she didn’t even know could change the way people cook. Julia Child most definitely influenced cooking for generations to come with her passion for cooking and love for food.
Over my time spent learning about Lohan, I have learned quite a bit about her actions and her behaviors that lead her to her choices. According to TMZ’s (2011) biography on Lindsay, she started acting when she was ten years of age. This throws her into a very stressful and fast paced lifestyle at a very young age, which leaves her extremely susceptible to find ways to help control her stress. The massive amounts of attention from her fans, puts a tremendous burden on her.
How could the woman behind the most deviant man in the history of the world go somehow unnoticed. Was she a possible helping hand in what was the worst genocide in recent history? Eva Braun is quite possibly the second hand definition of the word evil. Was her life really like this? Could a women that lived a seemingly normal life be capable of such heinous crimes? Eva Braun was a “right hand man” to one of history's most notorious criminals, but perhaps in her own light was not quite the woman that everybody makes her out to be.
... and Offred are having sex and she is underneath Offred, she has a rush of jealousy and sadness in herself. The reason why she reacted was because she can’t reproduce, can’t have sex with her own husband, and goes through the same act a couple of times a month. She starts yelling at Offred to leave after the Commander finishes his job with Offred, and it’s seen that Serena Joy is furious. This shows that she is powerful when it comes to the act of having her husband have a relationship with another woman.
In this essay I plan to describe a very talented and successful singer named Britney Spears. Britney is from McComb, Mississippi. I will be discussing certain aspects of Britney’s life and some of her many accomplishments.
Gossip Girl brings to life the world that Cecily Von Ziegesar created - the world of glitz and glamour becomes a newfound reality. The countless lavish parties, Debutante Balls, endless rumors and teenage romances escape the pages of the books that we hate to admit we love. This heightens the show’s ability to capture a young teenage girl’s fantasies creating the world that she would never want to leave yet she should as she notices a darkness prevails. The show ultimately focuses on five characters: Nate Archibald, Serena Van der Woodsen, Blair Waldorf, Chuck Bass and Dan Humphrey as they mature from teenagers to adults. As the five embark on this journey as they face many obstacles much of them dealing with rumors. These challenges test their moral values; their family values and tests the strength of relationships they share with another. Most viewers dismiss the purpose as it is heavily masked by its ability to entertain its viewers. However, Gossip Girl manages to teach us about the unintended consequences of rumors, presents us with stereotypes that we can identify with in our society and moral values that we should consider. Though this underlying purpose may not present itself immediately it is present throughout the journey this characters undergo in the six seasons.
As with when the book tells of when Serena and Pemberton arrive in North Carolina, Serena has a tinge of jealousy when dealing with Rachel and the unborn child. Although Pemberton kills Rachel’s father, Serena still has some tension with her in the beginning.
