A. It is to have self respect, which means knowing your self-worth. B. When you have low self- esteem you feel bad about and for yourself. When you have no self- esteem you may end up doing things you might would not do, if you respected yourself. For instence most people that do drugs have low self respect, or their minds were altered already when they started. When you have a high self- esteem you will not do things that are bad for you. C. I know very few people with high self respect, I know a lot more people that have low self-esteem. One person I know that has low self- esteem goes from boyfriend to boyfriend, and all of them are trashy. She thinks she has a lot of self respect, but she does not. She has lots of tattoos and used to do drugs, she smokes and does not care about her kids. I wish that she would wake up and get out of her own little world. I do not think that having high self- esteem is just caring about yourself and not making poor decisions, but it is about caring for others, and that helps you. I also know someone that has very high self-esteem. He has never done drugs or smoked anything, he has not even drank once. He always makes the right decisions and does not do anything to hurt others. …show more content…
Yes, because I believe in myself. I have set goals that I am going to reach. Not having self-respect does not fit in with having these goals. Having self-respect goes way farther than just not doing drugs and beliving in yourself. My perspective of high self-esteem is not being on your phone 24-7 talking to people that really don't even like you, not falling in with the wrong crowd, and not being afraid to chase your goals and leave people that don't matter

Self-esteem includes confidence, achievement, respect of others, and a need to be a unique individual. Being confident looks good on everyone, though some are more confident than others it still is needed to better yourself. Someone that gives there all nonstop and always does there best and never tries to take short cuts are the ones that everyone envies in school. They are the ones that get praised by all the teachers and they get awarded for doing their best. This can be both good and bad, good because then it shows the student that they are doing good and it makes themselves feel a lot better and it gives them confidence. Bad though because then it makes the other students feel bad about them and that causes their self-esteem to drop. Getting respect by a teacher and giving it is important to maintain a great classroom environment. If both parties are getting the respect needed, then everything works out in perfect harmony and the student can continue to work hard and the teacher can continue to help the student work

Self-respect is probably the most important value for a person. It is said that in order to earn the respect of others, a person needs to learn to treat oneself with respect. I think that self-respect has a lot to do with one’s self-esteem. Self-esteem is an opinion of one’s own worth. For example, a girl that sleeps around will probably earn the reputation of a slut or a tramp. In reality, she is coping with the stresses of a low self-esteem.

A person who has low self-esteem may also have health problems such as being depressed. It can be even worse if people are getting discriminated by a health and social professional. From mensjournal.com, “At the far end of the spectrum, inflated self-esteem has been found in criminals, junkies, and bullies, which is supposed to have been what the self-esteem movement was trying to steer children away from.” Bullies, criminals, and junkies. Most of which lie, steal, cheat, and have violent tendencies. They feel entitled to get what they want, so they steal it, beat people up for it, or do other terrible things to get it. Kids feel entitled to get exactly what they want, when they want it. They have big heads and big egos, all due to the fact that they are given a reward for just showing up. From washingtonpost.com, “It seems that we have an entitlement issue with our young adults — an issue even those young adults wholly admit
Respect for yourself is very important to a person because it can be the balancing factor of your life. If a person has no respect for themselves the will most likely go into depression. Respecting yourself is also important for your self-esteem. Having a high self-esteem means that people might laugh at you, make fun of you, and yet you don’t get angry or upset because you know you are better than what they say you are. You must be able to hold your head high and be proud of what you do. Respecting yourself also means taking care of your body. It can be the simple things such as brushing your teeth, washing your hands, and exercising. There are many other factors that might fall into the respecting yourself category, but respecting others is important as well.
Self-esteem can be defined as how children feel about themselves. Children's levels of self-esteem are evident in their behavior and attitudes. If children feel good about themselves, these good feelings will be reflected in how they relate to friends, teachers, siblings, parents, and others. Self-esteem is something that affects individuals throughout life. Therefore, it is very important for parents to help their children develop healthy levels of self-esteem. There are many things parents can do to help their children learn that they are lovable, capable, and competent, beginning when their children are at a very young age. Unfortunately, it is also at a very young age that children can begin to develop low self-esteem. Parents must be very careful not to plant the seeds of low self-esteem in their children unknowingly. Children learn their first lessons about self-esteem from their parents.

I did not believe I was worthy of anything good. And those issues came from all the sexual violence I had endured. So I struggle with low self worth.
