Imagine being in a situation where you are walking down the street in the middle of the night, and an unstable person comes and points a gun at you and starts to physical hit and you just so happen to be carrying a gun with you. Would you just let the person continue with their harassment to you or would you defend yourself?

Self defense is the use of reasonable force to protect oneself or members of the family from bodily harm from the attack of an aggressor (Dictionary.law.com). Self defense should be taken seriously. In “The Most Dangerous Games,” Rainsford, the protagonist, was stranded on an island after falling off his yacht. He met another fellow hunter, Zaroff, the antagonist. Zaroff believed that hunting animals is boring, and instead hunting humans are more exciting and gives you a thrill. Zaroff offered Rainsford to hunt with him or to be hunted himself. Katniss had no CHOICE. If Katniss did not do the game, then she will be killed by the government. This was how the government worked in her world. When Katniss shot the boy from District 1, she was protecting Rue and protecting herself at the same time. When Katniss cut the Tracker Jacker hive to make it fall on the others, resulting in one of the girls dying, She was protecting herself from the other districts killing her. Think about it, if you were in Katniss’s situation would you or would you not take the easy way out of escaping from the alliance of districts?

In “The Most Dangerous Games” and “The Hunger Games”, Katniss had no choice but to kill other people because of the government. In order for her to survive, she had to kill. Rainsford had no choice but to play the game Zaroff forced him to play if he wanted to get out of that stranded Island anytime soon. Killing is a tough subject and shouldn't always be done.
