Selecting a Car: What to look for With rust spots all over, beaten up and scratched, and the milage reaching its final days, there sat my very first car, a 1998 ford escort. Turning sixteen the first thing that comes to every teens mind is getting there driver's license and being able to have the freedom they have dreamed of for years. But the number one mistake that can happen is rushing into buying your very first car just because you want one. Before meeting to look at the car you want to do some research about the car and see how much its worth. Selecting a car this is the most important step and you want to make sure you thoroughly look over the car. When meeting to look at the car and test drive it the first thing that you want to check out about the car is the condition inside and out. How well has the car been taken care of. If the car was not well taken care of then most likely the car's maintenance was not taken care of either. When buying a car you want the car to look as clean as a crystal because then you know the car was well maintained which could prevent future problems. The second thing that you want to do when looking at the car is to open the hood and check all of the fluids and make sure they are up to date and clean. Also check under the hood rust spots, under the car rust spots, and other rust spots to make sure there will not be any future problems. After looking over the car thoroughly the most important part is taking the car for a test drive. When buying a car always take it for a test drive to hear and feel any problems that were not there by just looking at it. Take the car for a drive and make sure that it drives smooth with no problems. When you are on your test drive park the car for about 30 sec on the side of the road and let it run, and then move it forward and make sure that there was no fluids leaking from the car. If everything seems to be okay with the car and it fits your wants and needs the final step is to make your offer to them.
