My dreams were finally ansewered, not to mention Wes Craven as well as the original trio Neve, David and Courtney coming back, with Kevin Williamson returning as the writer. 'Scream 4' could of easily been the sequal to 'Scream' and that would of been perfect. However we have to have all the movies, but 'Scream 4' was easily as good to the first film. The cinemtagrohy was awesome, the film really captured Michigan into magical Northern California town Woodsboro. The original cast was splendid it was like bumping into old friends, not to mention the new generation cast was fitted well into the Scream
Scream 4 utilizes today’s millennial culture of technology, Youtube, and blogs to once again reinvent the slasher genre. Scream 4 combines just the right amount of comedy within the story to still stay true to the genre and pokes fun at the previous three films and the genre as a whole. Although there is nothing significantly new with regards to the story of Scream 4, the mystery of who is under the mask was well done and keeps the viewer guessing. The identity of the masked killer is a surprising one and makes an interesting comment on fame in modern
In Slaughterhouse- Five, Kurt Vonnegut’s themes of war and time travel to tell the story of World War II in Dresden through the eyes of Billy Pilgrim. Vonnegut uses flashbacks and blackouts to bring Billy back and forth throughout different eras of his life in order for him to develop a way to cope with the bombing in Dresden.
I was overall pleased with the movie, because it stayed fairly close to the book's descriptions and the storyline. The storyline didn’t change except for the Hound dieing. The book and movie had many more differences and a lot of similarities yet they had the same storyline.
On Saturday night 10/17/2015, I attended the theatre at Tarrant County College North East Campus, the comedy drama God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton and was directed by Stephen Thomas. “God of Carnage,” which is poised somewhere in between, definitely delivers the cathartic release of watching other people’s marriages go boom. A study in the tension between civilized surface and savage instinct, this play is itself a satisfyingly primitive entertainment with an intellectual veneer.
Although I will always love the original, the script, the movie was so fun to watch. We got know why lady bracknell is who she is since she apparently was a dancer and got life by having a baby. We found out instead of hugging miss prism got engaged to dr. chasuble which was interesting. Although I want to say what the real change was in the movie compared to the script you got have to watch the movie all the way through. It will be the biggest surprise of your
Free Will and Warfare in Slaughterhouse Five Slaughterhouse Five is an oddly charming, anti-war book with a rather relevant historical background written by Kurt Vonnegut, who experienced first hand the events in Dresden during World War II. Vonnegut was a prisoner in Dresden, Germany, and at the time Dresden was a relatively defenseless and militarily bleak city. "The city was fire bombed so successfully (and senselessly) that 135,000 civilians were killed in the violent fire storm" (McKean). The suffering in Dresden was so horrible that writers, artists and historians have had a hard time conveying how horrible it actually was. Vonnegut wrote about his experiences forming the story, throwing several drafts away, and in the small two hundred and ten pages he tells his story.
Master of Horror Wes Craven continues the Scream films with a adrenaline-filled sequal that is just as fun as the first. With characters from the first Scream and a entire new lineup of characters in Scream 2. You'll be in for a roller coaster ride of thrills and chills making you want more at the end.
...and several more keeps you and your emotions on a roller coaster ride. Which is brilliant because we all know that as humans we adhere to stimulation and that is what it does, it stimulates us by incorporating all these emotions and jumping around with them. With the movie it also adds a score and soundtrack as well as camera shots and things that appeals to our senses that much more. At least it does for me.
... vastly admired and appreciated to this day as one of the greatest movies made. It is incredible how years later this film still has such an influence on modern day horror films. This timeless classic redefined horror films for generations.
Drug addiction is on the largest contributing factors for the deaths of millions of people throughout out the ages. Todays day in age drugs have become more dangerously more potent than they were a decade back. The majority of the population believe that the reason addicts become hooked on drugs because the the chemical triggers found in the drug. This has caused many society as a whole to look down on drug addicts and treat them with less respect than anyone who is not a drug addict. Johann Hari is an english author and journalist who was published articles in newspapers like the New York times, Huffington post and the Guardian, Hari has published his own book Chasing the Scream were he goes into a three year journey on the war on drugs.
Obviously casting Jamie Lee Curtis, a scream queen whose mother (Janet Leigh from Psycho) is the original scream queen, is a nod toward the audience. Additionally with a character named Loomis, after a character in the classic Psycho(1960) and showing clips of horror movies like Howard Hawks' The Thing (1951), Carpenter has created a world that exists primarily in the realm of reality. This world is realistic enough so that the audience can relate and associate with the characters, but also has enough of the self-referentialism to always keep the audience aware that they are watching a movie, not an accurate of representation of
I really enjoyed this film. I would highly recommend it to anyone who really enjoys a good revenge movie. This film will cover it all. I do plan on buying this film, framing it and putting it up on my wall. That’s how much I liked it. If you have not yet seen this film, you need to get up and go get a copy and set your DVD player to repeat.
Compared to the CGI and other special effects that are available today, this film is terrible. Compared to films of its time, I would say it's above average. It is hard to tell, usually films that are --- less reliant on technology/use social problems that are ongoing --- can be enjoyed for many years, unfortunately this was not the case. This was my first film I have seen in this class that I wasn’t much of a fan of. I still realise the historical significance of the movie though, and it was very interesting the see how far the technology used to create the godzilla movies has come. I have seen both the 1998 and 2014 remakes of the movie. The 1998 movie was impressive to me as a kid, not so much now. The 2014 movie was fun to watch because its cast had plenty of actors that I recognized, the storyline was interesting, and the CGI was pretty believable. I’m sure with time the 2014 version of Godzilla’s special effects will be considered sub-par just like the other
“Entertainment has to come hand in hand with a little bit of medicine, some people go to the movies to be reminded that everything’s okay. I don’t make those kinds of movies. That, to me, is a lie. Everything’s not okay.” - David Fincher. David Fincher is the director that I am choosing to homage for a number of reasons. I personally find his movies to be some of the deepest, most well made, and beautiful films in recent memory. However it is Fincher’s take on story telling and filmmaking in general that causes me to admire his films so much. This quote exemplifies that, and is something that I whole-heartedly agree with. I am and have always been extremely opinionated and open about my views on the world and I believe that artists have a responsibility to do what they can with their art to help improve the culture that they are helping to create. In this paper I will try to outline exactly how Fincher creates the masterpieces that he does and what I can take from that and apply to my films.
Almost everyone has a favorite genre of film, but how everyone defines their favorite genre can differ greatly. Horror is one of the genres where its definition can be perceived differently by many people. Like all other genres, horror does have rules and traditions that must be included in order for a film to be considered a horror film. These rules and traditions include a protagonist, an antagonist, an escape or escape attempt of some sort, and very influential audio and visual effects.
