Does suspension really help the student understand what they did wrong?
Does school suspension really teach the student their mistakes? Would it be better to understand why the student did what they did? Shouldn’t teachers know the students’ side of the story? School suspension in schools has always been a go to when giving out a students punishment for bad behavior. Schools always lean towards suspension because it is an easy way to deal with the student. Consequently, school suspension is just like a vacation to the student. Although the student would have homework, the student would still get time off from school. But, nevertheless school suspension doesn't have much effect on the kids. School suspension only tells the student that they get off of school for a few days and that the student has homework to complete. School suspension doesn’t explain to the student where that student might have gone wrong. Schools need to know that punishing the student isn’t always the way to go. The student might want to explain the reason for their actions. Schools need to find different alternatives to suspension so that teachers and students can have a better understanding with one and other. Schools should get rid of suspension and find a better alternative that way the teachers and students could talk things out and so the student understands what not to do next
