A Brief History Of Alternate History

While watching 'Sardar' (1993), a biopic on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by Ketan Mehta and written by Vijay Tendulkar, a thought occurred: what if Sardar had become the first prime minister of India? But this is not a rumination on that possibility and its consequences but of the concept itself. That of alternate history films.

The film is focused on a group of American high school students, which include Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen, who call themselves Wolverines and resist the occupation using guerrilla warfare.
'Der Dritte Weltkrieg' (World War III, 1998) is a German mockumentary by Robert Stone that attempts to show what could have happened had the Soviets attacked demonstrators in Berlin in 1989, resulting in World War III. The film uses archived and news footage of global leaders as well as world events and mixes it with actual footage that was shot for the movie.

Amongst other such interesting films is 'The Trial of Lee Harvey Oswald' (1964), a film by Larry Buchanan. It was made a few months after the assassination of John F. Kennedy, as well as Oswald, who was to stand trial for Kennedy's murder. The film is a courtroom drama and explores what could have happened had Oswald not been killed. The prosecution tries to prove that he was working for the Soviet Union while his defense pleads
