How many times have you failed in your life? I bet it’s a lot. Have you ever let that bring you down and stop you from trying? Samuel McChord Crothers once said, “Try as hard as we may for perfection, the net result of our labors is an amazing variety of imperfectness. We are surprised at our own versatility in being able to fail in so many different ways.” We try as hard as we can to be perfect, but we never are, and never will be. We fail so many times, and in so many different ways. We have to grow and learn from our imperfections. Do you know who Thomas Edison is? He was an inventor. He once said, “I never perfected an invention that I did not think about in terms of the service it might give others... I find out what the world needs, then I proceed to invent....” Right there, he states that he never perfected an invention, and that he was never perfect. He was the inventor of the light bulb. In the process of making the lightbulb, he failed so many times. He never gave up though. He kept trying until he finally found something that worked. Thomas also said, “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.” He failed in so many different ways, but he didn’t let failure, or imperfectness knock him down and keep him from trying.
