I have chosen to venture on a nursing degree because my goal is to be fully informed and educated on mental health because mental health is a rising issue in todays generation. I wish to professionalise my understanding so I will then be able to assist others who are in need of help. I hope to gain knowledge that will allow me to place myself in the national healthcare system.
I have always had a helping attitude. During my time as a carer, I have been able to use this. Caring is a heart warming career. It is so satisfying to complete a day of work knowing my efforts have gone to supporting that person. As a domiciliary carer, I help my client with tasks in their household, tasks that are difficult for them to achieve on their own. I engage in personal care like bathing, clothing and feeding. I prepare the meals they wish to eat and I administer medication. However, as a carer I also know allow and understand their needs for independence and quality of life. I have had the chance to know my client on a personal level. This satisfies me because I love to be involved with their recoveries. I have become an essential part of

I also understand their commitment and their point of view as they are the core carer to their patient. I admire nurses for their work ethic and passion and selflessness. I believe my caring job is very similar to that of a nurse because not only do clients differ but client’s behaviours differ also. Not everyday is the same, not every client is the same. I help people with dementia. This has allowed me to thoroughly engage in the mental illness/disorder as one day my client may be friendly and the next day they may have acquired an aggressive behaviour. I have learnt to be even more patient and sympathetic to the difficulties my clients have met. I am there to fully encourage their wellbeing something I hope to engage in after I have completed my
For the past 17 years I have been in positions of leadership in the United States Air Force Nurse Corps. The most recent positions:
I plan to pursue a career in nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. This career take many steps to complete. But it is different routes you can take and different programs you can enroll in for this profession. Family Nurse Practitioners can prescribe medication and diagnose patients and give treatment. They can work either in hospitals and or clinics as a primary healthcare provider. They can also order specific x-rays and test that need to be done for a patient. The nurse practitioners interact with less patients in a clinic than in a hospital. Np’s have privileges to prescribe medications in every state.
A care relationship is special and requires skill, trust and understanding. This essay will elaborate how the quality of that relationship affects the quality of the care given and the experiences felt in receiving care. These different relationships will depend on the type of care given, who the care is given by and what sort of previous existing relationship there was to begin with. For a good care relationship to work it needs to follow the 5 K101 principles of care practice which are 'support people in maximising their potential','support people in having a voice and being heard','respect people's beliefs and preferences','support people's rights to appropriate services' and 'respect people's privacy and right to confidentiality'.(K101,Unit 4,p.183). If all of these needs are met a far exceptional quality of relationship between the carer and care receiver will be achieved.
Licensed practical nurses (LPN 's) fill an important role in modern health care practices. Their primary job duty is to provide routine care, observe patients’ health, assist doctors and registered nurses, and communicate instructions to patients regarding medication, home-based care, and preventative lifestyle changes (Hill). A Licensed Practical Nurse has various of roles that they have to manage on a day to day basis, such as being an advocate for their patients, an educator, being a counselor, a consultant, researcher, collaborator, and even a manager depending on what kind of work exactly that you do and where. It is the nursing process and critical thinking that separate the LPN from the unlicensed assistive personnel. Judgments are based
Working in partnership with others that are involved in a client will enable the care worker to know the right care to provide for the clients. These professional like dietician, social worker doctors etc can give vital information relating to the client care plan that could help to give excellent care for instance a dietician will have a better idea of food and drinks that can be nutritional to the well being of the client. Likewise this include the family, friends and the clients advocate, these set of people can as well give useful information to support being that they are part of the client’s life and know what is best for
The opportunity to expand and refine my nursing knowledge has always equated to me attending the University of Alabama School of Nursing’s masters program. With their master’s degree programs earning the number one spot for Top 50 Best Value, the quality of the programs is undeniable. I selected to apply to the psychiatric mental health track because during my undergraduate studies, I realized this was a career worthy study. My brother was diagnosed with bipolar/schizophrenia at fifteen, and I always questioned his lack of motivation and self-care abilities. It was not until taking the Concepts of Behavioral Health Nursing, that I realized the existence of positive and negative symptoms in patients with schizophrenia, and that apathy and learning disabilities were just as much a part of my brother’s illness as hallucinations or delusions. According to Akiko (2004) “Severity of negative symptoms was significantly associated with worse performance on attention/working memory,”(p. 750). With this
There have been three constants that have sparked a passion in my life; caring for others, education and my love for the Hispanic community. These three passions have been a driving force in leading me to where I am today, both in my career and my personal life. I am confident that these constants will continue to be my motivating propelling me to reach the pinnacle in the nursing field, obtaining and practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
“Life is a balanced system of learning, adjusting, and evolving. Whether pleasure or pain; every situation in your life serves a purpose. It is up to us to recognize what that purpose could be.” - Dr. Steve Maraboli

A care worker has many responsibilities. For example, it is a care worker’s responsibility to treat each individual fairly and equally with care. This is because a care worker would have to help people who have difficulties doing everyday tasks like getting up out of bed, getting to different places around the home, getting dressed, using the facilities and on some occasions eating. Some clients in the home could have physical disabilities, learning disabilities or mental illnesses such as dementia and Alzheimer’s. A role that a care worker could have is spending quality time with the residents, talking to them and doing activities as a group. This will make the residents feel valued and cared for. Another role that a care worker could have would be to tend to a
I am applying to your master’s program in Family Nurse Practitioner for the fall of 2016. Nursing has given me the opportunity to touch and save life’s. Prior to earning my undergraduate degree in Nursing, I worked as a License Practical Nurse for five years and continue working full time during my undergraduate program. I was enrolled full time in the accelerated Nursing track and graduated with good grades because of the strong support system around me. The profession of Nursing has been a blessing and it gave me opportunities to touch lives and smiles on many faces.
Saying that you are a registered nurse is a broad statement. Registered nursing is a job that has many aspects. Registered nurses work in many different settings and they carry out many different routines. As a registered nurse you could be exposed to many different opportunities. My goal is to be a registered nurse but, I need to learn a lot. Becoming a being a registered nurse requires a lot of hard work and effort but, if I focus on my goal I will be able to achieve it.
My desire to become a nurse is driven by my long-standing passion for helping others and making a difference. This is a profession I have aspired to be a part of since I began my GCSE’s and so I chose subjects that could help dictate my future profession. Biology captured my interest and led me to research further into careers in the healthcare industry. It was from that moment I was determined to become a nurse.
So, think about that for a minute, that we are telling the caregiver to take care of the client, follow the instructions and do your job well. However, are we telling them about the emotional investment they must put forth? Unless a personal care attendant is experienced, there is no way they can expect this drain on their psyche. As asserted by Evashwick and Riedel in Managing Long-Term Care, there must be adequate training of all new employees along with orientation and mentoring before starting their job.
My full name is Angelica Marie Ramelb Reginaldo, and I am an 18 year old teenager who is still unearthing new discoveries about myself and searching for my purpose in life. In order to get to know me on a personal level, I am going to provide a background information about myself. I was born in the Philippines on February 4, 1999. With the news of my birth, my father was a tiny bit disappointed, because he was expecting a son. However, everything turned out wonderful when my mother became pregnant 3 years after I was born, and my father finally had the son he always dreamt of having.
