Sameness is okay when it comes to certain things, but not all things. Everyone is different, whether or not we admit to it. Different is okay, we must to learn to accept it. There’s nothing the same about us except the species we are, the air breathe, etc. In “Of Mice and Men”, Lenny is different because of his strength, size, and his is slower than an average person. He was treated differently than normal people because of this extraordinary strength and the disorder he had. George was slim built, an average joe basically. Crooks was a black man. He was looked upon differently because of the time the story took place. Everyone in the story was different whether it be personality, looks, or actions. Being the same is boring, nothing gets
One reason Lenny and George are both different is by Lenny being less mature than George. For example, in the beginning of the book when Lenny and George were walking to get to the ranch, Lennie had a dead mice and was trying to be clever by trying to hide it from George. For that he could be able to keep it. He didn’t succeeded and was told like a kid to get rid of it and when he denied, George was the adult and threw the dead mice away. (pg.6) This shows how Lennie is less mature than George because no adult would be walking around with a dead mice and trying to hide it from someone. Proving
why Lennie and George Travel together and is not very understanding. Although you never find
John Steinbeck, an American novelist, is well-known for his familiar themes of depression and loneliness. He uses these themes throughout a majority of his novels. These themes come from his childhood and growing up during the stock market crash. A reader can see his depiction of his childhood era. In Of Mice and Men, Steinbeck shows the prominent themes of loneliness, the need for relationships, and the loss of dreams in the 1930s through the novels’ character.
“People are always going to stereotype others… it may be without conscious thought, but it still has the same negative effects.”- Author Unknown. In the book “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck, he includes many stereotypes; for example, Lennie was mean and dumb and Curley had small man syndrome. Other characters were stereotyped as hot headed, a tart, and a leader.
Most if not all the characters in Of Mice and Men can be seen as
When asked about John Steinbeck’s career, people often refer to Steinbeck as a playwright, journalist, and a well-known novelist. The book Of Mice and Men is a popular novel by John Steinbeck and a required read for most high school students. Most of Steinbeck 's novels have a central theme focusing on the relationship between man and his environment. The American dream for George and Lennie, two of the main characters in Of Mice and Men, is to have a place of their own, to be respected, and to work hard for everything they earn and deserve. In Steinbeck’s novel Of Mice and Men, the land and a hope of a better life becomes the talisman of an American dream for Lennie and George that is left unfulfilled.
MOST, IF NOT ALL, OF THE CHARACTERS IN OF MICE AND MEN CAN BE SEEN AS
Crooks, Curley’s wife, and most defiantly Lennie are the outcasts on the ranch. The novel presents Lennie as a mentally challenged, but an unusually strong worker who travels with his friend George. George takes care of Lennie as if he was his own child and Lennie cares for George the same way. “I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you” (14). Lennie describes how he cares for George although he honestly just messes everything up for George. Lennie has the mind of a child and does not understand how to act and be an adult. Lennie continues to pet dead mice, feel shiny and smooth objects, and not know how to interact with other people. From time to time, George continues to care and try to make improvements with Lennie, but it just does not happen. Lennie continues to have the mind of a child and can never distinguish the different between right and wrong. Throughout the novel; from being a mentally challenged; tall, muscular man; Lennie is most definitely an outcast in the story Of Mice and Men.
“He’s a nice fella,’ said Slim. “Guy don’t need no sense to be a nice fella. Seems to me sometimes it jus’ works the other way around. Take a real smart guy and he ain’t hardly ever a nice fella.” (Steinbeck 40) Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck takes place in Soledad, California. It is about two men, George Milton and Lennie Small, who try to make peace and a living on a ranch. Not only does Lennie have an impairment, most of the characters do. It might not be a mental impairment, such as Lennie’s, though. It could be a physical impairment too. A few examples of characters with physical impairments are George, Candy, Curley’s wife, and Crooks.
Lennie and George are two very different people. Lennie is childish and doesn’t act the way a normal adult acts. But Lennie is very strong and he doesn’t know it. George, on the other hand, is a small but wise man who takes care of Lennie and makes all of the big decisions for the two of them. Throughout the book, Lennie follows George and does his best to listen to him and do what he says and George is getting sick of Lennie but still sticks around to help him. Many would probably think that the reason why George stays with Lennie is because of Lennie’s disability problems. The real reason why George stays with Lennie isn’t because he “needs” to but infact he is lonely and needs a friend.

My writing assignments that I have chosen to represent my growth were the Into the Wild essay as well as the Of Mice Men Essay. I chose many others but I wanted to talk about these two specifically because I feel they show evidence of everything I have wanted to achieve since the first semester. Both of them exemplify my wide vocabulary as well as my current sentence structure. The following quote shows evidence of my new use of vocabulary and sentence structure “ First of all, to justify the killing of Lennie, a modern day example of euthanasia and mercy killings that most people are familiar with, are the acts of Dr. Jack Kevorkian. Recognized as Dr. Death, Kevorkian was guilty of one hundred and thirty counts of physician assisted suicide.”
In the novel “Of Mice and Men” the author introduces two characters Lennie and George, who both are out traveling so they can find jobs. They had a job but had to leave because they are accused of committing a crime, and all this started with Lennie, he has the need to touch things to his liking, such as mice, and a girls skirt. Back in their old job Lennie was feeling a girls skirt, she freaked out, she accuses him of raping her and Lennie had to run away with him since he feels responsible for him. They both plan to have their own farm in order to do that they need money, which means they need a job. They get a job, while they´re there the boss´s son, Curly, isn´t a big fan of big people, the author describes Lennie as a big guy who´s bulky, so Lennie is
Have you ever wondered what makes you unique? The reason you are unique is because of genetic variation. Genetic variation is what makes humans all look different than each other such as hair color, eye color and skin color . Variation in the same species is based on genetic and environmental factors. Species that are the same have very similar genes but are not exact. This has to do with sexual reproduction traits of parents and offspring, parents give half of each chromosome pair. It is uncommon for there to be variation that genes carry resulting in a mutation. Genes control the traits in an organism but the environment and DNA does change things like appearance, behavior and having an offspring.
allowed to have different views than another person is what makes us unique and we should not
