The service I attended was conducted by the faith-based organization of the Salvation Army. The salvation Army is a well known Christian organization with the goals of reaching out to poverty population with the intentions of meeting physical needs as well as bringing the gift of salvation through loving upon individuals. The unique aspect of the salvation army is the organization structured as the military, assigning army officers as pastors or salvationist which has the duty of becoming part of the community and reaching out to those in need:
…we buy a home in your neighborhood for our pastors - called officers - and their families to live in. The house is owned and maintained by The Salvation Army, not the officers who live in it. That way

First, one great dislike was the distraction of children. To my understanding there is no division of children from adults or families, division meaning children ministry or Sunday school to keep children away whilst the pastor is preaching. The reasoning of dislike is because children can and will cause distraction from focusing on receiving the Word, with the noises, crying, fussing and desires of wanting to move and play. In addition, at Christ Fellowship with a children ministry we still share the love and message of Jesus Christ in age appropriate activity and sermon delivery, not only is it a fun environment but also still receiving the word of God just as the adults in the main auditorium. Secondly, as you enter Salvation Army you are welcomed and program handouts are given, the benefit of program handouts are the updated events and activities taking place in the organization, the biblical sections that will be discussed and general information of the organization. Unfortunately, program handouts do not happen at Christ Fellowship we solely rely on our social media outlets as well as reminders in every service prior to these upcoming events; we have handouts for other purposes except sermon relative note taking and follow-ups. Third, as biased as this is deemed since I am part of the younger and contemporary generation the worship was not as vibrant more traditional, however, worship is not a performance it is soul attention to
The Salvation Army prides itself in continuously offering needs based programs or service to communities that fall below the poverty line. The Salvation Army has a wide array of strengths including: 1) Professional networking; a channel through which ideas, resources and services can be exchanged between Salvation Army and other non-profit organizations 2) Global notoriety; the Salvation Army is a world-wide organization, sustained primarily through government funds and public donations 3) Longevity; a demonstrated history of success. This history of longevity affords them a positive, solid reputation in participating communities (The Salvation Army USA, 2018).
It is inevitable, given our busy pace of life, that not all members of a church will be willing or able to volunteer time to extend the church's ministry to the aging. However, there may be some individuals who are willing to contribute funds, others who will work on fund-raising projects. These funds may be used to support programs described above by paying for salaries, rent, equipment or volunteer expenses; or they may be combined to form a Rotating Fund to meet special needs of elderly citizens. Here are some ideas for how the money could be used:
I have attended a Christian church my whole life. While I have attended various denominations, I have always considered myself to be non-denominational, not favoring one over the other. The only other churches I have ever attended were Catholic; I have had other family members practice this faith and so have always been a guest with them if I have gone and had the services feel fairly familiar. When we were given the project to go and attend a different religion’s church I wasn’t sure what to expect. I decided to attend a Jewish church since Judaism and Christianity believe some of the same fundamentals but are still separated, I thought it would be a good way to learn more about the church as well as be able to relate better to anyone I know who practices Judaism. Also this taught me what it feels like for someone who does not have any experience in church.
Lacking the ready opportunity to visit a unique congregation while stuck, carless, on campus over break, I instead focus on a "field trip" that my churchs' Sunday School class took one Sunday morning last summer. Picture if you will a group of white Presbyterian teenagers hopping into a shiny church van and cruising 15 minutes south, into the poorer, blacker reaches of inner-city Memphis (where neighborhood segregation is still very much the rule). Our destination was relatively near our own church, and yet worlds apart, too. Ours was the area of stately old homes with well-kept lawns along oak- and elm-lined streets, homes filled with the genteel, white urbanites of the city. A mere handful of blocks to the south, however, lay a land of equally old but far more poorly maintained homes, streets long since denuded of any trees they may once have sported. We had left our comfortable zone of neighborhood watches and block clubs, choosing instead to spend our worship hours in a part of the city instead known for its special police precinct and its multitudinous economic redevelopment zones. Thus did we find ourselves at the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church.
The Salvation Army ls largest Christian social welfare organisations with more than 1,650,000 members working in over 127 countries.
Leadership is a trait in human nature that has been known to inspire others to follow or in some cases, has been misused to assimilate manipulation. This specific trait intrigues me because of its ability to encourage individuals to perform a certain way however, not all authoritative figures are positive per se; for example, the role of leadership concerning organizations of large groups such as cults. Cults are defined as “new religious movements” however, the goal in most cults is to obey a certain individual that is seen as the leader. The role of leadership regarding cults has the ability to fall on a spectrum that ranks from positive to negative. Some example of cults who fall onto the spectrum are those of The Salvation Army, The Church of Scientology, and the infamous Ku Klux Klan.
It is apparent that the issues are similar at Willow Creek and New Hope, as both have experienced great growth. They are addressing these issues by adding additional services and by assignment of small groups or small ministries to meet their congregation's needs. They have been successful in addressing the issue based on each church's individual needs. Willow Creek has added services to accommodate the service seekers or the un-churched. New Hope attempts to match congregation member's needs through joining auxiliaries or other ministries of the church.
Most nonprofit volunteer groups can be described as holistic and geared toward supporting those that are disadvantaged. The volunteer seeks to meet a need and/or be a role model. The desire is to give tools to an individual that can make their situation better than it was before. Many nonprofits are religious based entities ran by pastoral leaders. Other nonprofits are mainly community based operations set up to meet a physical or emotional need, provide food, offer shelter, counseling, or utility assistance
I visited the House of Compassion which is facility in Marshalltown, IA. House of Compassion is a non-profit organization that opened twenty years ago. They are a place of hospitality for those that our hungry, homeless, or in need of medical assistance. The services they have include a supply closet, soup kitchen, emergency shelter, and a Medical Assistance Program. The supply closet enables them to supply personal hygiene products for families in need, diapers is a common need that is often forgotten by the public. The soup kitchen provides food for those that our hungry, and recently the House of Compassion as started a Garden of Compassion which they use to grow food to continue to feed and inform those that our in need. The Emergency Shelter is available for those that have no where to go. They have many beds for people to sleep in, and they are encouraged and supported while they are staying there. This is a common place for people to come in transition, in refuge, and most that come of a sense of hopelessness. Reversing this hopelessness is what the House of Compassion is hoping to do. They want to provide basic needs and help people back on their feet and experience again the hope that we have in Christ.
Volunteering for a poverty program, policy group, or community service organization is an experience that will educate oneself and endure an involvement with those who may be in need of assistance for a period of time. When deciding where I wanted to do my volunteer experience for the class I wanted to make sure that I found experience that I would learn from. There were a variety of places that I could choose from that were in the area. For my experience I chose to volunteer at a salvation army in my hometown Springfield, Oh. This is an organizational group that provides services to those who are poor in a variety of ways. The Salvation Army is an organization that has several different branches in various locations. This branch helps in a variety of ways by having summer camps for children, social service programs that offer assistance with topics such as bills, food, clothing, furniture and a variety of other resources. They also provide several different opportunities around Christmas to help with the different assistant groups that they have available.
To conclude, The Salvation Army was placed to help many people in need and to get them in a mental and physical state of courage to do it on their own. The Salvation Army is a great foundation that helps millions of people a year to get back up on their feet. They help with all kinds of problems including to help people to provide shelter, help disaster survivors, overcome poverty and many more other ways to help the world become a better and more unified
...evant to the achievements performed by the Salvation Army. People who seek help through the Salvation Army may develop a better outlook about their lives, as well as feel a since of hope. In turn, donations and goals accomplished by and through the Salvation Army foundation give the administrators confidence that their programs are working. Social networking has allowed these organizations to have campaigns for fundraising they are associate within communities and other non-profit organizations.
As a young child, I spent Sundays in the pews of various churches. My extended family had a wide variety of different denominations of Christianity. Some churches had loud music with singing and dancing, others lots of sitting and standing. But the
While volunteering at Fallbrook Church I have been guided, nurtured, and challenged through the process. I have been able to utilize skills acquired throughout this year that enhance my volunteer service. The foundation is rooted in fellowship, classroom, and weekly Reach Out services for the community. The foundation for the church is community service; my pastor has set forth and shared vision of supporting one another through community service; this is seen through repeated efforts to support Community functions, Computer, Computer Education, Community Resources.
These situations are not varied by the sport either, you would think that the less aggressive sports wouldn’t be involved in these types of circumstances. There are many different investigations of situations that have been reported such as auto racing, baseball, horse racing, powder puff football, soccer and track and field. The severity of these activities range from one occurrence to close to thirty five. Sports like football and basketball which are considerably popular have the most incidences compared to the other sports. The traditions of the sports have made in the focal point, of the attention grabbing numbers.
