Does a sacrifice really help other people? A sacrifice can be difficult for some people. It can be difficult because you might not want to give something away to people, but after you give something or do something you feel good. Sacrifices can change lives and make them better. Tony and Hsiang-ling both made an important sacrifice that helped different people. In the story “ Summer’s Trade “ Tony made a sacrifice. Tony headed toward the trading post to get Grandma’s bracelet back. When he got there and he gave away the money, that he had wanted to use to buy the saddle, he got kind of sad. He had really wanted that saddle, but he knew that his Grandma was sick. Tony took the bracelet to his Grandma’s hogan and gave the bracelet to her. Tony knew he had done the right thing because when he gave it to her, she had a little smile on her face and nodded her head slightly. The next day she was up and walking around and Tony had a good feeling inside his body. He had a choice to either keep the money to buy the saddle or to use the money to buy back his Grandmother’s bracelet. He chose to buy the bracelet back. The effect …show more content…

When there was a huge flood, Hsiang-ling lost everything. She lost her home, her husband, her kid, everything. She was pretty hungry. A lady came up to her and told her there was a place up there that these people sold free food. So Hsiang-ling went up into the line to wait for food. When it was her turn the workers said that she was the last one to get food because they were out of food. An old lady behind her started crying. Hsiang-ling felt bad so she gave the old women her food. Hsiang-ling gave up her food for someone else’s hunger. She didn’t even know this lady! The women and Hsiang-ling both felt good.
