According to 5 Focusing Steps, “If you’re not yet sold on the idea, consider that a 2 percent increase in customer retention has the same effect as decreasing costs by 10 percent. Not only that, but it costs over six times more to get a new customer than it does to keep one.” Customer satisfaction should be a golden rule of all companies.

As soon as the four members of my team entered the breakout room, we had begun the stages of team development. As Bruce Tuckman (1965) observed in his research, teams often undergo a five-stage process of team development: forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning. During my team’s forming stage, we defined what our objective was and planned a general outline of how this was to be accomplished. Because we didn’t know each other very well, a quick introduction was given so we could get to know each other a little better. Next, we had a brief stage of storming which caused a bit of inefficiency. This was our initial five minutes of confusion due to not knowing each other’s strengths and who was better suited to answer which question. Our norming and performing stages melted together as we quickly gained our footing on the task at hand and settled for an execution strategy which would allow us to perform at a fairly efficient speed. Our performing stage was very encouraging and helped the team push through the questions...

When working on software with a certain group of people, the programmer will tend to talk more on what they for the program. The programmer gets a list of things needed for the software. They test the software and then release to the group. This usually happens when the programmer work independently or a small business. In bigger corporations this will not be as likely.
Teamwork is a coordinated function implemented by a set of employees, often individuals with very different skills. These different types of teams can even be found in a college setting. Teams may be permanent or established on short notice to handle problems or opportunities as they occur. These concepts depend quite heavily on open and effective communication. Employees who are empowered to make decisions need information and the insights of their colleagues; they cannot make good decisions without an effective communication system. Questions need to be asked within a “teamwork” setting in order to work to a solution. For teams to communicate effectively there has to be more than one person. For one person does not make a team! Communication is the single most important aspect of a successful team. “Along with cooperation and commitment; communication is critical in the success of teams.” (Luebeck, 2014) “Clearly articulating the division of responsibilities and having a mutual understanding of the shared goals, division of responsibility and ultimate end product is critical.” (Luebeck, 2014) Next is motivation. Not everyone seems to have motivation. Motivating staff requires awareness and good communication. For a team to be successful, there needs to be the fundamentals of good leadership and great communication. This is all very true and I will explain throughout this paper what I believe teamwork and leadership should entail.
When working with a group of people one is exposed to a variety of knowledge, backgrounds and experience. The value of learning teams is extremely beneficial. No one person possesses the knowledge necessary to cover every circumstance; however, as a group you are a link in a chain of knowledge with a wealth of experiences and resources. Each team member brings unique strengths, perspectives and working styles (Innergize, date unknown). For teams to be successful, they need to establish a common purpose and to become familiar with each members strengths and weaknesses. Establishing some basic ground rules is also essential for success of the group: 1) know your team members, 2) clear roles of responsibility, 3) effective communication, 4) accepted leadership, 5) accept and support one another, 6) check for understanding and agreement, 7) resolve conflicts constructively and quickly ((Innergize, date unknown, p. 1) and (Page and Donelan, 2003, p.126)).
