I have always been passionate about kids and family’s that live in poverty and who are desperate for food and water. So, I knew when I heard Ryan Stevenson speaking of an organization called World Vision, that this would be a great speech for this assignment. Ryan Stevenson is a singer and artist who was speaking as well as preforming at the Newsboys concert, at the Brookings Swiftel Center.
Later, when I was considering what type of speech this was I was stumped. First, Stevenson started off by speaking about the children around the world that literally have nothing, they might go days without food, the children might have little clothing, or maybe they aren’t able to have any education. He talked about the little things that we all take

for granted every day. So, I would say that he was informing us but, as he continued to speak about the organization volunteers were walking around the audience with packets with a child’s informormation. As they did this he switched directions a little and was telling the audience that you could donate a dollar a day, or in other words, thirty-two dollars a month to your child that you sponsor.
Ryan Stevenson also states that once you sponsor a child they sort of become part of your family, you can send letters to them and you become close with them. So, at this point I felt that he switched his goal from informing the audience to persuading them to sponsor a child.
When Ryan Stevenson first started speaking, he definitely grabbed my attention. I am interested in this topic so when he started off by talking about the issues that they children are going through, it touched my heart. Although, I was only able to find two main points of his speech, informing the audience and then persuading us to sponsor. The evidence that Ryan Stevenson was given by World Vision. Ryan Stevenson is highly involved in the program so he is a reliable source for this organization.
Some examples that he used was the knowledge of the conditions that these children are living in. Ryan Stevenson knew quite a bit about these conditions, him and several others had visited some of these villages that they sponsor to see first had some of the things that were happening. This made the evidence and convincing and appealing, sense he was able to give us real stories about a few of the children and families that he
met. I think that the conclusion could have been more effective. I clearly remember the points that he was trying to make but, I think if that if his conclusion one hundred percent effective, then everyone would of sponsored a child that night. After a while I feel like he ran out of information and just kept repeating himself over and over again. For example, he stated multiple times that it only take a dollar a day, this might have been his theory to get his point across, but I found it repetitive and unnecessary. Altogether, I think that Ryan Stevenson did a good job with this speech. He kept the speech formal and didn’t make his speech too long, he was able to get his point across and keep most of the audiences’ attention. My only suggestion would be for him to elaborate a little bit more. I am not sure what else he could have brought up but, I think a third main point would have made the speech a little more concrete. I would also say that Ryan Stevenson should be less repetitive. I do appreciate Ryan Stevenson doing this speech though and convincing much of the audience to sponsor a child and making their life much better.
On the 9th of February, three divisions of Japanese soldiers landed in Singapore; a major British military base and presence in the Pacific, under the control of Lieutenant General A.E Percival. Six days later, over 90 000 British, Australian and Indian troops were forced to surrender. It had been believed that Singapore guaranteed the security of Australia, therefore leaving the country seemingly hopeless under the threat of Japanese invasion. The Fall of Singapore in 1942 was significant in affecting the relations between Australia and the United States as the lack of support received from Britain caused, resulting in a drastic movement towards America for protection.

In this paper I am going to discuss the rhetorical appeals, as well as the argumentative structure, audience and purpose set forth by George W. Bush in his September 27 speech in Flagstaff, Arizona. More specifically I will refer to the rhetorical appeals of ethos, pathos and logos, and explain how they are used to gain the support and attention of the audience and further the further the purpose of the speech. As I explain these appeals I will also give an insight into the argumentative structure and why it is apparent in this particular speech.
On September 12, 1962 John Franklin Kennedy charged the nation to achieve what no other civilization had done before; he charged the United States to place a man on the moon. Kennedy delivered his man on the moon speech in a time of great peril for the United States. It appeared that the Soviet Union was rising faster than the United States was posed to take our place as the world’s super power. His moving speech in Rice Stadium inspired the nation and other nations, to take the challenge and travel to the moon. Kennnedy use of allusions, repetition, and rhetorical questions motivate and embolden his audience, and make a difference that would last forever.

Before we started this project I had never heard of I Have a Dream Foundation. I had no idea who they were, what they were about, and how local they actually were. Their mission statement states, “We empower students from low-income communities to thrive in school, college and career.” I Have a Dream foundation’s main focus is to break barriers of impoverished students family issues, so that the student can focus on school and excel. Challenges that come with poverty that I Have a Dream targets are: family involvement in the justice system, foster care, food insecurity, and homelessness.
Throughout history there have been many great figures that populate the conscientiousness of humanity. The great philosophers of the past and the industrious thinkers of the present all of whom have had a great impact on the world and how people view it. Bill Gates would be considered one of the greatest minds of our times. Bill Gates is not only considered a technological entrepreneur but, one of the greatest contributors to global equality. In Bill Gates ' Harvard commencement address I believe the main idea is that as the younger generation that has more than any other generation should be giving more of themselves than any other generation, regardless of the gender, race, sexuality or anything else that makes those giving or receiving
