“When we see people that are impoverished and people that are dealt an unfair hand, then if we have the power to help them, we should try to do that,” said John Legend. John Legend is known for winning ten Grammy Awards, one Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award (“Top 25 Quotes By John Legend”). This musical genius whose “career gained momentum through a series of successful collaborations with already established artists,” (“John Legend Wikipedia”) is now devoted to more than forty-five distinct charities around the globe. He has assembled poverty programs all around the world and has raised millions of dollars for those in need. John Legend is a man who continues to impact the world through his hard-working charitable work. One charity that Legend is memorable for, is playing a role in the War Child Foundation. This foundation “works toward a world in which no child’s life is torn apart by war” (“Vision/ War Child”). This committee is dedicated to supporting children to conquer their experiences, and have a chance at a more superior future. This foundation wants to “envision a world where no child dies from a mosquito bite” (“Malaria No More”). Malaria threatens half of the world’s population and kills almost one million every year, affecting children and pregnant women across the map. Because of this foundation, six million people have been saved from this disease, and the rate of malaria deaths has decreased sixty percent. This foundation would like this generation to be the one that ends Malaria. With Legend’s support and donations, mosquito nets can be bought, treatment can be found, vaccines can be given, and insecticides can be constructed.
