Do you love a good mystery? Ruby Redfort is a very interesting book, very intriguing, and is all about a mystery. It is a wonderful book, written by Lauren Child. It has great worthy characters, and I really enjoyed reading it. Ruby Redfort is the main character in the book. She loves a bit of fun, and always breaking the rules. Ruby also has quite a thing for code breaking. She was a newly recruited agent at the top secret Spectrum. She starts off as a normal 13 year old school girl, then her world was tipped upside down. Even though she does, sometimes, muck up a few things, I think she did the right thing when she goes out on an adventure. She really should have got a Spectrum Agent to do it. I think she did the right thing though because she knew exactly what she was looking for, she would be disguised as a child, and she followed in the footsteps of the past agent in her job. Ruby is very different to me, but I do have to say that I agree with her in situations that she has to fight for herself. This is what I would do in that situation. There are quite a few of other characters in the book. The most important one would by far be Clancy. He is Ruby's best friend. He loves to code break too. Ruby and Clancy even have their own code. Clancy is a bit shy, but is a great friend to Ruby. Another character that is important would have to be Hitch. He himself is a secret agent at Spectrum, and was given the job as a "spy butler", while he was injured, to look after Ruby. Ruby and Hitch became good friends, and work great together. Here are some of the other characters: Mr Redfort: Ruby's Dad Mrs Redfort: Ruby's Mum Mrs Digby: Redfort family's maid for years Bug: Redfort's family dog Consuela: Redfort's family cook LB: Boss... ... middle of paper ... ...the maze she gets caught. Chapter 40: Hitch decided to go down to the basement. He finds his way to where Ruby is, but stays in the dark. After Hitch had been seen, there was a lot of talk. Eventually Hitch and Ruby win them over. All of the villains were caught, except one, the leader. Ruby then goes outside to greet her family and friends. THE END What I liked about the book was the mystery. I loved not knowing what was going to happen next, and having to figure out the story. It was very unpredictable, though at times it became confusing. I could defiantly imagine myself in the book. There was heaps of different mysteries being solved, and it made the end very dramatic. It was great, I could not stop reading! The book was great, even though I do not usually read this type of books. It was very interesting and I really enjoyed it. The author did a great job.

I found the book to be easy, exciting reading because the story line was very realistic and easily relatable. This book flowed for me to a point when, at times, it was difficult to put down. Several scenes pleasantly caught me off guard and some were extremely hilarious, namely, the visit to Martha Oldcrow. I found myself really fond of the char...
The main character of this book is Susan Caraway, but everyone knows her as Stargirl. Stargirl is about 16 years old. She is in 10th grade. Her hair is the color of sand and falls to her shoulders. A “sprinkle” of freckles crosses her nose. Mostly, she looked like a hundred other girls in school, except for two things. She didn’t wear makeup and her eyes were bigger than anyone else’s in the school. Also, she wore outrageous clothes. Normal for her was a long floor-brushing pioneer dress or skirt. Stargirl is definitely different. She’s a fun loving, free-spirited girl who no one had ever met before. She was the friendliest person in school. She loves all people, even people who don’t play for her school’s team. She doesn’t care what others think about her clothes or how she acts. The lesson that Stargirl learned was that you can’t change who you are. If you change for someone else, you will only make yourself miserable. She also learned that the people who really care about you will like you for who you are. The people who truly love you won’t ask you to change who you are.
My overall opinion of this book is good I really liked it and recommend it to anyone. It is a good book to read and it keep you interested throughout the whole book.
On her first day of school, Ruby, with her mother beside her, was escorted by four marshals due to the angry whites who were protesting and yelling at 6-year-old Ruby Bridges, she walked through the entire crowd of whites without being intimidated. However, she only became startled when she had seen a woman waving a black baby doll placed in a tiny coffin in the air. Ruby and her mother spent her first day at school in the principal’s office due to the chaos throughout the school. Many parents took their children out of William Frantz Elementary School, some parents took their children out permanently. During the year, a rumor that Ruby might be poisoned spread like wildfire throughout the school, keeping her off the playground and out of the school cafeteria where other students ate lunch. The Bridges family was affected immensely by Ruby’s appearance at William Frantz Elementary School. Abon, Ruby's father, lost his job because whites had threatened to boycott the business where he worked, and many grocery stores refused to welcome Lucille, Ruby’s mother, as a customer. Furthermore, Ruby's grandparents were evicted from their farm. Although there were a few families who gave support to the Bridges family, some helped the family by giving Abon a job opportunity as a house painter and neighbors offered to babysit the Bridges' children.
parents pulled kids out of schools and the kids that stayed could not look or see Ruby because the principal hid the kids and would not let them play with her at recess . That means the playground was empty . just think what would it be like if there was no one on the playground it would be terrible for me. if there was no one on the playground to play with me. Ruby didn’t just go to that school because the group asked her she wanted to help African Americans get along with white people and to get better education.
I think my favorite thing about this novel was the realistic ending. Some books try to just give you a fairy tale but this book had an ending that mad you think in the end if I was in the same position would I do the same thing. I didn’t like the fact that the novel portrayed mental illness in a way to say that it needed to be hidden and protected. I thought this novel was very believable for the time period that it was set in. I think the ending to this novel was perfect it was an accurate ending to this
I liked how at the end of each chapter, there was suspense which made it impossible for me to stop reading.
Anita Diamant, author of the historic fiction novel, The Red Tent, is a devout Jewish-American living in Newtonville, Massachusetts with her husband and daughter, Emilia. She has written five books about contemporary Jewish life, The Red Tent being her first novel.
had a shocking ending and was a fantastic book. The main point in this book
The main protagonists in the novel are Kerry (in which the story revolves around her) and Yvette (Kerry’s co-worker at her summer job in which they become friends). Kerry Yvette isTheir boss; Harcourt (the fire boss at base one), is an arrogant man and treats Kerry and Yvette like trash and could care less about their needs and safety as he sends them out without any radio or communication system and says, “Do I look like I’m worried? Your chariot awaits, girls” (Page 25). There are countless numbers of firemen, but the ones that hang around Kerry and Yvette the most are Didier and Aubrey in which Kerry falls in love with Aubrey. Didier is a sympathetic young man and treats both girls with much respect and helps them when they need help. Aubrey is quieter, and is different compared to the rest of the firemen which Kerry finds appealing. He helps Kerry and when Kerry is stuck with confusion, he explains to her to put trust in him, “Let your mind and heart work like friends-who love and trust each other” (Page 153). Later in the novel, there are new characters including Matt (a pilot in which Yvette sort of has a crush on), Rolf (an older man who is the chef of the kitchen), Slash (a man Rolf hires to help Kerry and Yvette in the kitchen) and Sirois (the fire boss at base two). Matt is a kind...
In this book there were several characters, but only a few had significant roles. I
...ce their parents and many other adults did not want her to be around them because she was colored. Many of the kids would call her mean names and refuse to play with her. Ruby was hurt by this and it made her think that she was different. The kids didn't know any better, of course. Since they learned that what they thought about colored people being a minority was correct, and equality was not.
Little Red Cap is the Brothers Grimm’s version of Charles Perrault’s original fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood. The original is written as a moralistic story, in which ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ is eaten by the wolf, the moral being that children, particularly female, should not approach strangers. Feminist critics could argue that the original story is warning against curiosity and freedom. This is because in the original version Little Red Cap is told “not to run off the path” which implies she shouldn’t go beyond the social expectation of women. However, Duffy subverts the classic and as stated in her 2005 interview she “finds a truth which hadn’t been amplified previously”.
