William Howard Taft is the twenty-seventh president of the United States from 1909-1913 and the successor to the famous Theodore Roosevelt. Before he became president he easily won the nomination for the republican candidate because of Roosevelt. Taft also did very little when it came to campaign for presidency most of it was handled by Roosevelt, he did this because he wanted to ensure that the next president would continues his progressive reforms and policies that he had set out to create.
Before Taft became president he was the Governor general of the philippines and later worked for the Mckinley administration. After the death of Mckinley af the Theodore Roosevelt's first term in office he ran for a second term, this time he ran with Taft as his vice president. Taft was considered the prince of the great Roosevelt. When Taft received the offer, he himself did not care to much to be the president because politics made him, sick but his wife, Nellie had always dreamed of living in the White House and persuaded him into accepting the presidential nomination. Sadly her dreams were crushed shortly after her husband’s inauguration she had a stroke and never got to experience the life of first lady.
President Taft tried to handle the country as best he could after Roosevelt left, and to continue the policies and reforms of the progressive movement how he believed they should be handled even thought both Roosevelt and Taft had two distinct way of doing things..
