dealing with child abuse, rape, sexual abuse, emotional abuse. She had to become aware of the court because all the families that she got placed into did not want her. Even though she went through all of this. She stayed strong most of the time and hoped that one day she would find a family that wanted and loved her. There names are Barbara and Wilfred Dupuis. They had Robin for two years before they made the decision of legally adopting Robin at the age of 16 years old. Even though they ate not her biological parents Robin still looks at them as the ones who gave her hope and made it so she could have all the wonderful opportunities she has today.
Robin Does not remember what her life was like before the age of 11, but in the eighth grade she remembers going to school at Nathaniel Bowditch School in Salem, Massachusetts . This was around the same time that she got placed with the Dupuis’s. In high school Robin played volleyball and soccer cheerleading in school. After being adopted at 16 Robin did not do a lot of after school activities because she had finally gotten what she had been waiting for her whole life. A family that loved and cared for her. She spent most of her time with her family at camp in the summer boating and fishing.

phlebotomy. On May 24, 1984 Robin got married to Thomas O’Day at St’ James Church in Salem, Massachusetts. That was the day Robin officially joined our family. She is still married to this day and has two children. On November 28, 1986 Robin delivered Ryan James O’Day.
Robin dealt with many obstacles shortly after Ryan was born. Ryan was born with a heart condition that called for many surgeries and hospital visits. Robin had to drive back and forth to Boston Massachusetts for a long time. This made it scary and hard for Robin because she could have lost her first baby at any moment in time.
On April 2, 1993 Robin had her 2nd child Brendan Patrick O’Day. A few years after Brendan was born Ryan had to receive his first ever heart transplant. This was very hard for Robin because this was her child having to go into surgery to receive a new heart. This is a scary operation.
On April 10, 2015 Robin experienced the worst possible thing a mother could ever experience. Her son Ryan Passed away unexpectedly at the age of 28. Robin is still healing from this awful tragic event, But she is doing much better. Robin has realized that Ryan is in a better place now and that he is looking over her every day. After losing Ryan Robin said that she is honored to have gotten to experience taking care of a chronically ill child by putting his needs before her own, and to have gotten 28 amazing years with her
son. One thing that Robin says she has learned over her lifetime is that “ It is important to get involved, and help those that are around you, because we are all apart of a bigger world.” Robin is one that you always see her helping the community and will never let anyone down. Robin is a caring, loving, kind, helpful, and respectful person. That you can always go to for help. I asked Robin “How has being in foster care effected her life today?” Robin said that “It has given her the ability to know through experience that not all children come from great homes. They may hide their circumstances just to fit in. We need to understand that all children are different, live in different circumstances, learn different ways, and often react in different ways to deal with the pain they are going through.” Robin Has been through alot in her life, but she has these experiences that have taught her to stay strong because she is not alone. There is always someone there to help her through the pain. People go through many obstacles in life but it is how they deal with them that truly counts. Robin O’Day said “ In this world we are all faced with obstacles and unfairness in our life. It is how we decide to overcome the obstacles and unfairness that truly matters. Who am I should never be used as an excuse to give up on yourself”
Jasmine Beckford’s case is the oldest out of the three; in 1984 Jasmine died as a result of long-term abuse aged 4. In 1981 her and her younger sister suffered serious injuries and were paced with foster carers for six months. After this they were allowed back home with their mother on a trial basis as social services were meant to support them. During the last ten months of Jasmine’s life she was only seen once by social workers (Corby, 2006).

...ght his journey. Just like any parent, the birth of a child is always a moment of joy and celebration. As a result of the sudden death of Nicholas, Reg and Maggie never got the chance to fully appreciate the life of him. Although Green went through adversity, he treated people with respect and hospitality. This act of humility and kindness by Green made people aware of the importance of organ donation and how it saves lives. Influenced by the awareness, people all over the world gave recognition to Green and the honorable act he did after the death of his son. Following Nicholas’s death, the number of organ donors tripled, and millions of life have been saved by a single death. Reg Green lost a son, but started a movement to save lives everywhere. He truly lived “Viva Nicholas.”

A disease that will leave her son dead in only a matter of a few years. Rapp writes about how she handles the situation, different from how normal parents would. “When a child is born” says Rapp, parents begin thinking how they can make their child succeed, this includes what preschool to put them in, if they should do an instrument, getting them into sports etc. Rapp is not a normal parent as she doesn 't get to think about those outcomes. Rapps child is sick and won 't get better. Rapp shows love to her son, because that 's what her child deserves. Rapp writes “ I will love him to the end of his life, and then I will let him go.” All parents what their children to be happy and prosper but not all get the chance to. Dragon moms like Emily Rapp would do anything for her child even “walk through a tunnel of
As the youngest of five children she was often overlooked. The pride of the family often overrode the opportunity to receive health care, handouts and a decent chance to become something. My mother spent her childhood in a tiny house with her family and many relatives. She was never given the opportunities to excel in learning and life like my generation has. My grandfather was a carpenter and on that living fed many hungry mouths. But despite this already unfortunate lifestyle my mother maintained good grades and was on a path to overcoming her misfortune.
I, of course, knew my mother as a mother. As I have reached adulthood and become a mother myself, I have also known her as a friend. My mom shared much of herself with me, and I saw sides of my mother as she struggled with her cancer that I had never seen before, especially her strong belief in positive thinking and the importance of quality of life. I was privileged to know so many facets of my mother, but certainly I did not know all. There were parts of her life that I didn’t see, relationships that I didn’t know about. Last night, at the wake, so many stories were told to me about my mom’s strength, courage, humor, kindness, her quietness, her loyalty as a friend. It was so special to hear of these things that my mom said and did, to know some of these other parts of her life. I hope that her friends and family will continue to share these stories with me and with each other so we can continue to know and remember my mom.
Krumboltz demonstrated a masterful job in validating Robin's feelings and concerns throughout the video (26:25, 29:30, 31:25, 32:30,34:35). In validating Robin's feelings this helped establish a strong rapport strong between the client and therapist. At one point Robin states that she has taken her mother-in-law's son away from him(33:30). I found that statement to be so profound by the client Robin. It shows that she understands that marrying her husband led to negative consequences with her mother-in-law. However, Robin seeks respect from her mother-in-law. Dr. Krumboltz responds simply by stating, yes you have (33:35). His response was clear, direct, and to the point. I think this was an important step moving forward in the counseling session.
