Monstrous Mercy Robert Walton was on an expedition when he discovered Victor Frankenstein. Walton helped Frankenstein regain his health and listened to his bizarre story about the monster. Frankenstein started his story with his early life in Geneva. He told Walton all about his family, his love Elizabeth Lavenza, and his friend Henry Clerval. The story started with his happy childhood but gets darker as it progressed. Frankenstein’s ambitions took over him when he started the University of Ingolstadt. He spent months trying to find old body parts to finish his creation. His creation finally came to life, and he is terrified of his creation. The monster never asked to be created. When the monster was created he was like a newborn child. Everything in society was new to him. After leaving Ingolstadt, the monster just wandered around the forest in Ingolstadt. He had to figure out all of his senses on his own. He had to find random clothes to cover himself. The monster was larger than the average human, so the clothes he found was not sufficient because it did not fit. He was just all of a sudden brought to life in Victor’s dark apartment, so he was not use to the daylight when he finally witnessed it. The monster suffered through hunger and the cold before he finally discovered fire. After he discovered fire, he spent days scavenging for food to survive. After being in the wild for so long, he started to appreciate nature and sounds of birds singing. The monster even found books to educate himself. The monster never asked to be brought into the world. He was on his own trying to survive. At first, he was not even trying to look for Victor. He never asked anyone for help, so he just walked around until he could survive on his own.
