Global warming refers to a steady rise in the earth temperature. Life on earth thrives on a temperature of between 30-45 degrees. A rise in the temperature therefore threatens the life on the planet and destabilizes several features that sustain the same. Since 1971, the temperature has risen steadily owing to fraudulent utilization of resources on earth leading to the emission of poisonous gases. The ecology has a mechanism of sustaining the life within it; the earth has an atmosphere that maintains the temperature among other fundamental features of the planet that sustains life (Schlossberg, 55). The ozone layer that encloses the planet creates a greenhouse effect capable of sustaining both the temperature and composition of air thereby ensuring that the water remains in a liquid state. Global warming is a result on careless human activities that have consequently destroyed environment and has severe ramifications most of which threaten the existence of life in the planet as portrayed in the discussion below.
Among the factors that have contributed to global warming is environmental degradation, humans interact with their environment carelessly thus resulting in the massive loss of forest cover among other vital features of the earth. Trees are vital aspects of the planet; they have a mechanism of maintaining the carbon level on earth thereby stabilizing the global temperature. However, increased human activity and encroachment into the forests have resulted in the loss of large forest covers. Humans have successfully reduced the sizes of the great equatorial forests in both Brazil and central Africa among other areas. Additionally, such calamities as forest fires have compounded the problem resulting in loss of huge forest c...

...ind of products they buy and the use of electrical devices. However, global warming is major caused by the amount of heat released to the atmosphere which as a result breaks the ozone layer. Global warming has had negative effects on the nature of the earth and everything in it. It has led to death of plants and animals, varying climatic changes, the rising and falling of the levels of water in the oceans, lack of rain in various areas especially the semi-arid regions, drought and famine in a larger part of Africa and other continents and has destabilized the ecology system. To solve the issue of global warming, deforestation must be stopped, people should implement the use of energy and products that can be recycled, use vehicles that save on energy and emit less gases and creating awareness on the effects of global warming and how it can be reduced in the society.
Global warming is a scientific, political, and controversial topic. Some believe it is catastrophic, a slow moving killer hiding in the shadows. Others do not even think twice about it as they race by in a Hummer. Global warming is the gradual increase of temperature throughout different climates. It is caused by the greenhouse gas effect in which greenhouse gases, like methane and carbon dioxide, reflect sunlight back and forth. This reflected ultraviolet light bounces between the earth and the ozone layer and becomes trapped, resulting in a gradual rise of temperature. Over time, the slow rise of temperature causes new climates throughout the globe. The article “What Megablazes Tell Us About the Fiery Future of Climate Change” by Tim Dickinson
Climate Change is an ongoing problem that continues to intensify as time goes on and not much is happening to change it. Material consumption and increasing populations are increasing the issue of climate change and ruining Earth’s ecosystems. Since the Earth’s population is growing and fast, people are using more energy and materials, which raises great concern. The human ecological footprint has grown so much over the past few years that it is almost irreversible if not changed quickly. Climate change is the most important threat to the Earth and many factors lead are to blame, fossil fuels, greenhouse gases, and carbon dioxide. It would although be ignorant to say that man has nothing to do with it, as the population increases, the need for natural resources, use of more fossil fuels, more waste is produced, the is more pollution which leads to the ozone depletion causing global warming and essentially climate change overall. Since man has the ability to cause such harm to the Earth, man should change their ways to reverse the damage.
Global warming is defined as “A gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth’s atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants” (Oxford Dictionaries). In the recent decade, the world has experienced stronger and even more freq...
...he level of CO2 in the atmosphere., deforestation causes increase in environmental temperatures as forests have immense energy absorbing capacity. The controversy regarding the role of nature and human actions in the global warming continues, but its mitigation is the cause of concern. The nature takes its own way to balance the situation by developing geothermal equilibrium that may take a considerable period. Global warming has to be examined from several angles as it contains elements of physics; chemistry, geography, and geology. It’s wide ranging estimated impacts on human life in near future warrants immediate actions. Humans have to regulate their activities to bring the situation under control before it goes out of hand. Scientists and environmentalists all over the world have to develop mitigation strategies to control the rising menace of global warming.
The subject of global warming is as popular as the president. These both topics have always been hot subjects in everyday life. Global warming is the biggest storm headed in our way. It is also the most important issue of our times. Those ads or public service announcement on TV about global warming might not be the most attractive but the cause behind it is very important. Global warming is one of the major threats our planet is facing. Most scientists prove the fact that global warming is mainly caused by human activities rather than natural cycles. To simplify it, most mechanisms that we use are affecting earth. These mechanisms are created by humans. Therefore, humans are affecting earth.
Forests have a vital role to play in the fight against global warming. Forests absorb and store carbon in their trees and soil. But if forests are cleared or disturbed, this carbon is released as carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. “Up to a fifth of global greenhouse gas emissions come from deforestation and forest degradation” (WWF Scotland, 2008).
The Earth’s atmosphere is a very critical part of human survival and the rising temperatures are a very evident problem. There are also many different endangered species getting pushed out of the habitats and shelter by harvesting timber. Deforestation of world forests is not worth the price we have to pay. Rainforests are the homes of many wild animals including some endangered species that rely on those forests for shelter, food, and a water.
Global warming changed from a scientific topic to a real life concern in 1988 and is a topic that proposes everlasting environmental issues. Some countries are already seeing the effects that global warming can cause, not only will the temperature increase causing ice caps to melt and many animals becoming extinct but it’s the way global warming is happening that will really impact the environment. This problem mainly started to rise due to the Industrial Revolution. When more and more factories were built gases were released into the atmosphere and the main gas that causes global warming is the ever-growing amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2). As the world becomes more urbanized the more the crisis of Global Warming increases.
Global warming is the increasing temperatures in the earth’s atmosphere. It is caused by greenhouse gasses, like carbon dioxide, being trapped in the atmosphere (Ravi, Global Warming). With the continuous use of harmful emissions being put
What is Global Warming really and What are the effect? Global Warming is an increase in the earth’s atmospheric and oceanic temperatures widely predicted to occur due to an increase in the greenhouse effect resulting especially from pollution. According to S.M. Enzler MSc from the article History of greenhouse effect and global warming, Svante Arrhenius was a Swedish scientist that was the first to claim in 1896 that fossil fuel combustion may eventually result in enhanced global warming. Global Warming have gotten worse since the first record keeping in 1880. According to Peter M. Vitousek, he wrote in the article “Beyond Global Warming: Ecology and Global Change”, the increase of carbon dioxide is likely to have climatic consequences and certainly it has direct effects on biota in all Earth's terrestrial ecosystems. Some of the effects of global warming are rising seas, heat waves, storm surges, droughts, erratic and intense rainfall. Who is really to be blamed for global warming? Some people thinks that global warming is caused naturally but they are wrong. Global Warming is caused by human from all the carbon dioxide that they are putting in the atmosphere. Some of the other things that human do to cause warming are the use of hair products, driving their cars, and working in factories. Where will happen to this earth in the next 10? 100? 1000? year? Global Warming is deteriorating as time goes on and humans are the main cause of it and if we don’t do something to stop it we are endangering our future.
Global Warming is a condition caused by greenhouse gases and human activities. The increased concentration of greenhouse gases due to activities such as deforestation and fossil fuel burning is causing the Earth’s atmosphere and oceans to warm up. As a result of this, global warming has some serious effects in the shape of extreme weather, species extinctions, and rising sea levels. These effects can contribute to the changes that are taking place all over the world, most of which are dangerous enough to pose a threat to the survival of life on Earth in the future.
A tragic effect of the loss of the rainforest is the extinction of plants and animals that could provide us with food, medicine or valuable products. Thousands of species disappear each year. This leads to a poorer world with less biodiversity. One surprising result of the destruction of the rainforest is that soils and nutrients are washed away. When the trees are cut down, the soil is exposed to the heavy rain and quickly becomes infertile and useless. The forest cannot grow again, and the people who used the land have to move on. One of the most serious effects is global warming. When the trees in the rainforest are cut down, carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere. This carbon dioxide acts as a blanket, trapping the sun’s heat and warming the planet. This can have huge consequences for the world’s
Global warming is one of the most serious issues that the human species face today, yet the majority of the population does not pay attention to it. People are not aware of the dangers and do not care about it much because the main effects will affect the next generation and not themselves. Global warming is happening and it is the reason for changing weather and weather extremes such as earthquakes, floods and wildfires. Global warming is caused by societies lifestyle and these lifestyles destroy the environment and affect the whole world. The use of cars, trains, planes, as well as wasting energy for people’s entertainment has a price; this price is that society is in danger.
One of the most substantial problems in the world today is global warming. This gradual warming of the earth is in occurrence at an extremely slow rate but it is happening. Many scientists believe that as human’s work and release greenhouse gases into the earth’s atmosphere, it can become dangerous for the long lasting life of humans and our environment. “Unless we take immediate action, the impacts of global warming will continue to intensify, grow ever more costly and damaging, and increasingly affect the entire planet - including you, your community, and your family” (“Global Warming Impacts”). Everyone should be knowledgeable about global warming and the dangers that it brings to our planet. This essay will examine
Global warming is an increase in average global temperatures. This will lead to rising temperatures of the oceans and the earth’s surface. Coal is a main contributor to global warming because so much electricity is produced from coal-burning power plants. According to the book Global Warming by Peggy Parks, “In the United States, more than 50 percent of all electrical plants use coal, which also provides power for about 40 percent of the total electricity generated throughout the world” (43). Global warming is also caused because of deforestation and the burning of fossil fuels. Many people say that global warming is natural; however, people speed up the process. Global Warming needs to be taken serious because as the temperature rises, it causes melting of polar ice caps, a rise in sea levels or unnatural patters of precipitation which can result in floods. This can also have an effect on wildlife such as the food chain. Many species have been dying of starvation and many have to move to different places due to the temperature changes. Possible solutions to Global Warming is for people to switch to LED light bulbs as it gives the same light and uses less electricity, wash clothes in cold water, buy less products, and to spread the
